Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on the federal government to quickly resuscitate the Warri port, in order to curb unemployment in the state. The governor made the call at a town hall meeting with youths, including #ENDSARS protesters, civil society groups, students, social groups, community leaders and stakeholders across Delta South and Delta Central Senatorial Districts in Warri this week. IGP: Insecurity challenges can be addressed through intelligence gathering

Nigeria’s Inspector General of Police, IGP, Mohammed Adamu, on Thursday said the insecurity challenges in the country can be largely addressed through effective intelligence generation by the State Intelligence Bureau, SIB. President Buhari authorises N19.67 billion for completion of East-West road

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate release of N19.67 billion to ramp up efforts in completing sections I-IV of the East-West Road project by 2021. The presidential directive was part of efforts to address infrastructure deficit in the Niger Delta region and boost its economy. Police recover car containing AK 47 rifles, pistols, ammunition

Operatives of the Delta Police Command, on Saturday, recovered a Toyota Camry car containing two AK47 rifles, two cut-to-size locally-made pistols and several live ammunition. The metallic green-colour Toyota Camry, with registration number EFR 289 DC was recovered by men of the Enerhen Police Division, Warri. along the ever-busy Udu road in Udu Local Government Area. The car was reportedly abandoned by suspected members of a notorious armed robbery gang after sighting the patrol team from the division at a checkpoint near the Udu bridge. Troops raid militants hideout in Rivers, recover cache of arms

Nigerian troops on May 12 raided and destroyed an identified pirates/militants hideout in Arugbanama Community in Bonny Local Government Arwa of Rivers State, Defence Headquarters says. The Coordinator, Defence Media Information, Maj.-Gen. John Enenche, who disclosed this on Sunday in Abuja, the troops were from the 146 Battalion deployed in Bonny Island in the state. Nigeria: 10 die of coronavirus in Kano, Ogun, three other states

No fewer than seven patients died of coronavirus-related complications in Kano and Ogun states on Friday. Three other patients also died of COVID-19 in Bauchi, Kaduna and Sokoto. The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control made this known in its 70th Situation Report on COVID-19 published on Saturday. According to the report, 10 COVID-19 fatalities were recorded in the country as of 11.30 pm on Friday. The 10 new COVID-19 fatalities bring the total deaths recorded in the country to 117.
