New Superman Movie Being Written by Ta-Nehisi Coates

Warner Bros. and DC Films have confirmed that a new Superman reboot is in the works from writer Ta-Nehisi Coates and J.J. Abrams, who is set to produce via his Bad Robot banner. Besides the fact that Hannah Minghella (the upcoming Cloverfield sequel and Masters of the Universe reboot) is also on board as a producer, not a thing is known about this new Superman movie. That includes how it will tie into the existing DC Extended Universe or whether Henry Cavill, who played Clark Kent/Kal-El in Zack Snyder’s DCEU trilogy and the upcoming Zack Snyder’s Justice League, will return to the role. We know he’s keen to do so, but we’ve also heard DC and Abrams had spoken to Michael B. Jordan about potentially putting on the cape. In fact, The Hollywood Reporter writer Borys Kit tweeted that sour...

Zack Snyder to Shoot New Justice League Scenes in October: Report

When Warner Bros. finally agreed to let Zack Snyder finish his director’s cut of Justice League, they were pretty clear that there would be no reshoots. After all, they were dumping some $30 million into the project just for re-editing and special effects work alone. However, it now seems the studio has reversed course, as The Hollywood Reporter has it that a “week- or so- long” shoot to capture new footage is set to take place next month. According to THR, much of the principal cast is expected to return for Snyder’s new shoot. That includes Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, and — most surprising of all — Ray Fisher as Cyborg. Fisher had a large portion of his character’s story excised when Joss Whedon took over directing and rewriting duties from...

Wonder Woman 1984 Delayed Until Christmas

Wonder Woman 1984, photo via Warner Bros. Wonder Woman 1984 is changing its release date… again. The Patty Jenkins-directed sequel has been delayed until Christmas, reports Deadline, primarily due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The Wonder Woman sequel was originally scheduled to hit theaters in 2019 on December 13th, but the studio then decided to push it to Memorial Day Weekend in 2020. Once COVID-19 spread to the US, they realized it should be delayed once more to this October. And now, at long last, it appears things are coming full circle — seemingly for good — for Gal Gadot and company. “Patty Jenkins is an exceptional filmmaker and with Wonder Woman 1984 she has delivered an incredibly dynamic film that moviegoers of all ages around the world will absolutely love. We’re very pr...

Christopher Nolan Bought a Real 747 for Tenet Just to Crash It

For being one of the most anticipated films of 2020, Christopher Nolan’s new movie Tenet has kept a surprising amount of its plot, not to mention on-set details, under wraps. Not even Robert Pattinson, one of its main stars, could explain what the flick is about in his absurd GQ cover story. It’s only now, mere weeks until the summer blockbuster will be released, that Nolan has finally shared a trivia-like teaser: apparently he purchased a very real 747 for Tenet… just to crash the plane for a dramatic scene. “I planned to do it using miniatures and set-piece builds and a combination of visual effects and all the rest,” he told Total Film. “We started to run the numbers… It became apparent that it would actually be more efficient to buy a real plane of the real size, and perform this seque...

Christopher Nolan Unleashes New Tenet Trailer: Watch

Christopher Nolan and Warner Bros. are insistent on getting Tenet into theaters — COVID be damned. To keep the hype machine going, they’ve unleashed a new trailer — which debuted live on Fortnite — that has us salivating for the time-warping thriller. Like the first preview that dropped in December, this latest trailer offers more eye candy and even more proof that this is, indeed, the “most ambitious film” Nolan has ever made. We’re still fuzzy on what the hell exactly is going on, but we know we want more. Once again, the film centers around a spy played by John David Washington, who’s been tasked with preventing World War III. Only it’s not nuclear holocaust he’s trying to stop — it’s someone with the ability to manipulate time in a very unique, mind-bending way. Editors’ Pic...

Zack Snyder’s Justice League Director’s Cut to Debut on HBO Max in 2021

Calls from rabid fans and the film’s stars alike have been heard: Warner Bros. will #ReleaseTheSnyderCut of Justice League on HBO Max next year. The director’s cut has been rumored ever since the original film nearly tanked the entire DC Extended Universe back in 2017. Zack Snyder and his producer wife, Deborah, had left the project following the suicide of their 20-year-old daughter, Autumn. Joss Whedon, who’d led the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s massively successful superhero team-up adventure The Avengers was brought on to finish Justice League. In addition to handling all the post production work, Whedon shot numerous new scenes, many of which are some of the movie’s most lambasted. “You probably saw one-fourth of what I did,” Snyder told The Hollywood Reporter, adding that he...
