While most people dread Mondays, many Green Days fans have started to look forward to the top of the week ever since Billie Joe Armstrong started his No Fun Monday covers series. And this week’s is an interesting pick — “Not That Way Anymore” by Stiv Bators. Despite the heavier guitars and drums, Armstrong’s take on this track stays pretty true to the original version. Meanwhile, the video will take fans back to the good old days of tiny packed clubs of sweaty people everywhere rocking out with clips of vintage Green Day performances. And it fits with the vibe of the song itself. Armstrong has created a pretty solid collection of covers including The Wonders’ “That Thing You Do!” from the 1996 film of the same out of tribute to the late Adam Schlesinger. He’s also covered Tommy James &...

Tool had been rolling along on the road — until the COVID-19 pandemic hit. Once that tour got postponed, singer Maynard James Keenan instead (in all likelihood) figured it was a good time to roll out a new Puscifer song. Titled “Apocalyptical,” which is decidedly fitting for these times, the five-and-a-half-minute tune is synth-driven and the video for it, which you can watch below, is likely inspired by the pandemic. It starts off with a guy skateboarding in a hazmat suit in Los Angeles and kinda just goes off from there. In an interview with Zane Lowe on Beats 1, Keenan explained a bit about the song and how it was made. “Try it again tomorrow or try it again a week from now, but don’t let yourself off the hook. Force it. And then all of a sudden you’ll find when you get past this, it’s ...

And with Bellamy’s whispery tone, it feels like he’s trying to remind you that everything will be alright in the end. “This song captures my mood and feelings whilst in lockdown,” Bellamy said in a statement. “I have been reminded of what really matters in life and have discovered growing optimism, appreciation and hope for the future.” With lyrics like “Look for tomorrow / The end of our sorrows / Our world could be so full of joy,” Bellamy wants people to continue being hopeful. As for the story behind th...

But he upped his contribution to “fun things to view while in quarantine” by sharing a throwback video of him playing “Johnny B. Goode” on his signature “Blue” guitar.
