Regina Spektor Revisits ‘Prisoners’ on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

When Regina Spektor was invited to bring some live music to The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, she brought one of her classic songs to the show — “Prisoners” off her 2002 album, Songs. “When I did my solo piano tour, I revisited some of the older songs. While dreaming up fun things for the Broadway shows I invited Caleb [Teicher], who is brilliant at using tap as percussion, to check out ‘Prisoners,’” Spektor said in a statement. The performance was filmed after Spektor’s Broadway run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theater last summer. Dave Grohl Plays Drums on Superfan’s ‘Grohlathon’

Throughout quarantine, Pat Finnerty has been challenging himself to play every section of a song and sharing it on Instagram Live. And over the weekend, Finnerty, who’s a Dave Grohl superfan, decided to hop on another project called ‘Grohlathon’ as a means to get the Foo Fighters frontman to join him on a cover of Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing.” And nine hours into his marathon IG Live session, Grohl finally crept in. “What the fuck are you guys doing?” Grohl yelled as he found his cardboard cut-out on Finnerty’s screen. After announcing the 20-20-20 Galaxie 500 cover series last week, today (Aug. 13), Thurston Moore’s contribution dropped. Moore gave “Another Day,” off Galaxie 500’s 1989 sophomore LP, On Fire, the unplugged treatment. In the video of the cover, vocals and an acoustic guitar are paired with black and white images of fields and sky, as well as a few clips of Thurston performing the song. Future Islands Announce As Long As You Are; Share ‘Thrill’ Single

Consummate live quartet Future Islands are back with a new album in the fall. The Baltimore-based band will release their sixth studio LP, As Long As You Are, on Oct. 9 via 4AD. The new record welcomes touring drummer Mike Lowry as an official full-time Future Islands member and songwriter for the new record. They also took over the co-production duties with engineer Steve Wright at Wrightway Studios in Baltimore.
