Teyana Taylor’s dream came true when superstar Elton John agreed to play the grand piano in the “Lose Each Other” video, a single from The Album, her No. 1 Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop record. “When Teyana Taylor released her debut album, I became a huge fan,” John said in a statement. “She was a guest on my Rocket Hour and I fell in love with her original spirit. Aside from her brilliant music, Teyana is one of the most visually dazzling artists working in music today. So I jumped at the chance to be in her latest video ‘Lose Each Other.’” The Album is Taylor’s third studio record and was released on June 19 through GOOD Music and Def Jam Recordings. It is her second No. 1. Taylor, who also directed the video, recalls her amazement at hearing from John: “As we were working through ...
It’s that time of the week again — a new Two Minutes to Late Night cover has dropped! Marissa Nadler takes on the lead vocals on the Dusty Springfield’s version of the moody track, “Spooky.” (The song was initially done as a jazz instrumental by Mike Sharpe in 1967.) “Trick or treat! We covered that Dustry Springfield song from every Guy Richie movie (which is actually a gender-flipped cover song),” the caption accompanying the video said. Nadler is no stranger to Two Minutes and has covered Steely Dan’s “Reelin’ in the Years.” But of course, Nadler isn’t alone. Cave In and Mutoid Man leader Stephen Brodsky and Earth’s Dylan Carson are both on guitar while Emily Lee of Shearwater and Loma takes the keys and the mini theremin. She also “mysteriously” transforms into a cat at some point in t...

Elton John has just released two songs from his upcoming Elton: Jewel Box — one from his Rarities set and “Billy and the Kids” off the B-Sides. “Here’s to the Next Time” was recorded in DJM Studios in 1967 when he was still known as Reg Dwight. It was the B-side to John’s debut single, “I’ve Been Loving You.” [embedded content] He also shared “Billy and the Kids,” which is part of the B-Side record in Jewel Box. Recorded in 1986, it was released as a B-side, despite fans thinking that it should have been part of his 1986 album, Leather Jackets. Elton: Jewel Box will release on Nov. 13 via UMC/EMI. John previously released “Regimental Sgt. Zippo” as well as a collaboration with Gorillaz and 6lack, “The Pink Phantom.” And while concerts are still on the back burner this year, John annou...
When people think of covering Radiohead, one of the more reliable bets is their first hit, “Creep.” However, Rosie Carney has decided to take a different path: she’s covered “Bones,” from the band’s 1995 album, The Bends. Her acoustic version of the song is part of a bigger project where Carney will be covering all the tracks on The Bends, which is set to release on Dec. 11 via Color Study. “I recorded ‘Bones’ the day before I flew home to spend the rest of lockdown with my family in Ireland,” she said in a statement. “I listened to it nonstop as I travelled [sic] from my flat in London into the middle of nowhere. Every single line resonated with me on such a deep level and after this one I became far more confident in how I wanted the songs to sound if they were mine.” The new musical pro...

It will include the final take performances of 10 tracks from the new album as well as never-before-seen footage from the archives. “I’m in the middle of a 45-year conversation with the men and women I’m surrounded by,” Springsteen said in the clip. “The years of playing together have created an efficiency in the studio. Ideas tumble around the room, confusion ofte...

Artist x Artist. So simple, but so telling. When you put two creative minds together for a conversation, it can go literally in every direction. This happens on-stage during a show, it happens backstage, it happens at parties and it happens during great hangs. SPIN’s new series aims to capture the essence of what makes artists tick. Here, we’re going to connect old friends, people who have never met before or those who loosely know of each other’s existence for an unfiltered conversation that is intended to the proverbial fly-on-the-wall as this conversation takes place. We don’t know where it will go or have a set agenda. The goal is to capture the true essence of these behind-the-scenes conversations. We’re excited to launch the series with comedian/musician/SPIN contributor Jonah R...
