House member accuses military of extrajudicial killings, looting in Imo
A member of the House of Representatives, Bede Eke, has said men of the Nigerian Army and the police are carrying out extrajudicial killings and displacement of people in Imo State following the recent killing of a former presidential aide, Ahmed Gulak. Mr Gulak, a chieftain of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), was killed by unknown gunmen on May 30 while on his way to Sam Mbakwe Airport, Owerri, en route Abuja. According to the Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, Mr Gulak was consulting for the Senate Committee on Constitutional Review, which he (Omo-Agege) heads. People missed their Friends during the pandemic, and thanks to HBO Max it’s reunion time, and new “friend,” Lady Gaga and her acoustic guitar joined Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay, for a version of “Smelly Cat.” Kudrow’s beloved blonde character first sang “Smelly Cat” on a 1995 episode of Friends, and the song made a few appearances on the show, achieving oddball icon status. U2 frontman Bono takes a solo spin with his vocals on “Eden: To Find Love,” a song co-written and produced by Linda Perry. It’s the only artist-driven tune on the soundtrack of Citizen Penn, a film about Sean Penn’s organization J/PHRO (now CORE) in the wake of the 2010 Haiti Earthquake. Perry, of 4 Non Blondes fame, scored the soundtrack, which comes out via Lakeshore Records on May 21.
