Hurricane Chris Arrested For Second-Degree Murder

Chris was hit with charges of second-degree murder after claiming he acted in self-defense. Local outlet KSLA reports that Chris, real name Christopher Dooley, 31, was at a Shreveport, La. Texaco gas station in the early morning hours of this past Friday where he claims to have gotten into an alleged struggle with a man attempting to steal his car around 1 a.m. local time, thus prompting the shooting. Police examined surveillance video of the incident, and the Violent Crimes and Crime Scene Investigators department says the footage discredited the claims of self-defense made by Chris. The veteran comedian and media figure passed out while in the midst of delivering a joke, and details are currently still developing. Hughley, 57, was delivering a set at the Zanies Comedy Night Club in Nashville and was entertaining a packed crowd when the incident took place. Video of the moment show Hughley ready to deliver one of his zingers and his voice trailed off ahead of him sliding off a stool and then hitting his head on the stage’s floor before two men take him off to the side. In celebration of the 155th anniversary of Juneteenth, Google has produced a video Doodle set to the first verse of the poem “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” often called “The Black National Anthem.” It’s a 90 second piece of rousing animation that honors the end of slavery in the US. The video features art from artist Loveis Wise, music produced by Elijah Jamal, and the poem is read by LeVar Burton. Although slavery officially ended with the Emancipation Proclamation in 1862, it wasn’t until June 19th, 1865 that the federal order reached Galveston, Texas on the western edge of the Confederacy.
