Police arrest kidnapper of ex-Ekiti commissioner

Ekiti Police Command said it has arrested one person in connection with the kidnap of a former Commissioner for Agriculture in the state, Mr Folorunsho Olabode. The suspect was among those paraded by Mr Sunday Abutu, the command’s Public Relations Officer, in Ado-Ekiti for their alleged involvement in various criminal activities. Abutu said that the suspect was arrested inside a forest at Ilemeso-Ekiti in Oye Local Government area of the state. “During interrogation, the suspect confessed to being a member of the syndicate that kidnapped Mr Folorunso Olabode, a former Commissioner for Agriculture in the state,” he said. Police have arrested five brothers after a man was paraded naked in the streets allegedly in punishment for a social media post. Gunmen kidnap Edo councillor

Unknown gunmen in the early hours of Wednesday abducted Israel Inyanabor, a councillor representing Ewohimi Ward One in Esan South-East Local Government Area of Edo State. Inyanabor’s kidnap happened along Ewatto-Ubiaja-Okhuesan Road near Ena River in Esan South-East LGA of the state. Man sentenced to life imprisonment for raping own daughter

An Ondo State High Court sitting in Akure, the State capital, has sentenced a man, Olusola Alo, to life imprisonment for raping his own daughter. Alo, it was reported, had been having sexual intercourse with his biological daughter since she was 10-years-old. The mother of the girl was said to have left him when the daughter was six-months-old. According to the police prosecutor, the secret was exposed when the girl claimed at a students’ fellowship meeting that somebody was already having sex with her. The girl explained that her father would demand sex anytime she requested money from him for school fees and personal upkeep. Barely 24 after a first-class traditional ruler was murdered in Ondo, the wife of the Chief of Staff to the Ondo state governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale has been abducted by suspected gunmen. Vanguard gathered that Mrs Ale was abducted at Owena in Idanre council area of the state on Thursday night. A 23-year-old 100 level student of Osun State University, Ikire campus Juba Orisajafor on Tuesday drank poison and died few hours he preached against suicide on his WhatsApp. It was gathered that Orisajafor on Tuesday morning around updated his WhatsApp status, condemning suicide. A 10-year-old boy, Ifeanyi, was on Saturday thrown into a fire for allegedly stealing a small measure of uncooked rice in a market at Inikiri Benard village, Effium community, in the Ohaukwu Local Government Area of Ebonyi State. The Police in Delta have confirmed the arrest of a 30-year-old man identified as Jomaph who allegedly raped an 11-year-old girl in Sapele town, Sapele LGA of Delta. Court acquits man over prosecution’s inability to prove case of rape

Justice Oluwatoyin Ipaye of an Igbosere High Court in Lagos on Friday discharged and acquitted one Niyi Oyelami charged with defiling a nine-year-old daughter of his neighbour. Oyelami was charged by Lagos State on a count charge of defiling a minor, to which he pleaded not guilty. Delivering the judgment during a virtual court proceedings, the judge found the defendant not guilty as charged. Justice Ipaye said that the testimony of the two prosecution witnesses failed to establish that the accused actually committed the offence. She said the prosecution failed to prove the case beyond every reasonable doubt.
