Police: Ritualist kill food vendor, cut off her hands, head in Osun
The Police are on the trail of a a suspected ritualist who killed and cut off the head and hands of a female food vendor in Ile-Ife, Osun State on Saturday. The Command Spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, who said this in a statement on Sunday, said that the police were on the trail of the assailant. Opalola explained that the woman, known as Iya Elekuru, was lured into a building by her killer, under the pretence that he wanted to buy food from her. “The woman hawking food was lured inside a house and was brutally murdered . “The suspect chopped off her head and hand and the he fled the scene with the mutilated body parts. The Police Command in Delta says it has apprehended a middle-aged man over alleged murder of a member of a vigilante group in the state. The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, DSP Edafe Bright, disclosed this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Warri. Bright said that the suspect, a 25-year-old man, had admitted to the crime. The police spokesman identified the murder victim as Onajite Okolejo, a member of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, Zone 12, Hausa Quarters, Warri. Ilorin ‘priest’ remanded for ‘beheading’ man for money ritual
An Ilorin priest, Abdurasak Al-Sulati, popularly called Kewulere, has been charged for allegedly killing one Sumo Usman. He was arraigned at an Ilorin Magistrate’s Court on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and culpable homicide contrary to Sections 97 and 221 of Penal Code Law. In the Police First Information Report (FIR), the defendant was said to have conspired with Sheidu Mumini, Isiaka Dauda and Suleiman Usman to murder the victim. Fire destroys shops, property worth billions of naira at Katsina central market
Hundreds of shops were burnt to ashes following a fire outbreak at Katsina Central Market on Monday, newsmen report. The fire started at around 8 a.m., on Monday, from some shops located at the centre of the market, before it spread to other parts. The fire is still raging as at about 12:30pm, in spite of efforts of firemen to contain it. The inferno had destroyed property worth billions of Naira, mostly belonging to traders selling clothings, shoes, kitchen utensils, carpets, plastics among others. Police detectives in the Delta State Police Command have arrested members of a money ritual syndicate who abducted, killed and mutilated the body of a 39-year-old woman while on her way back from a farm at Obiarukwu in Ukwani council area. Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, has donated N3 million to Malam Abdulrahman Ibrahim Wailari to ameliorate the loss he suffered in a fire disaster that engulfed his house recently. Oyindamola Akinrinola, 23, a Nigerian resident of Lawrence, Kansas, has pleaded guilty in federal court for her role in online fraud schemes that targeted victims in the United States.
