HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Jerritt Clark / Getty VERZUZ just might have to retool things going forward with their live show format after a heated contest between Bone Thugs-n-Harmony and Three 6 Mafia turned suddenly violent. An exchange of words between Bizzy Bone and Juicy J halted the production, but the show did eventually go on. The event took place at the Hollywood Palladium in Los Angeles, Calif Thursday night (Dec. 2) and was expected to be a night packed with hits between the two veteran Hip-Hop groups. There was also a bit of history of friction between the groups dating back to the 1990s when they first found their footing as underground stalwarts who shared a similar sonic bent, but it never escalated to the degree most saw on Thursday. Bizzy expressed some profan...
A fight broke out between members of Three 6 Mafia and Bone Thugs-N-Harmony during a Verzuz battle on Thursday night. As Complex points out, Bone Thugs’ Bizzy Bone accused Three 6 Mafia of “mocking” him as he performed, and proceeded to throw a bottle in the group’s direction. In response, members of Three 6 Mafia rushed towards Bone Thugs N’ Harmony’s side of the stage and threw punches. The Verzuz battle was briefly paused as organizers of the event sought to get the situation under the control, but the two groups eventually returned to the stage and resumed the concert. HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty On Sunday night (Oct. 18) at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, Big Daddy Kane and KRS-One had their Verzuz showdown and it was everything a Hip-Hop head could ask for. As fans rabidly debate who came out on top, the culture itself came home with the W. While DJ Scratch and DJ Kid Capri (more on them later) held down Kane and KRS on the wheels of steels, respectively, it was Fat Joe who introduced the start of the battle. Fat Joe represents the Bronx, but he showed reverence for both legends. KRS hit the stage first, and he wasted no time as Kane was slower to enter, blasting off by performing “Criminal Minded.” Related Stories Kane rolled up unbothered sporting a mean fedora and when it was his turn started things off by sa...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Johnny Nunez / Getty It ain’t over. Today (September 2), the next Verzuz was announced as a battle between Bronx rapper Fat Joe and Queens crooner, ahem, rapper Ja Rule. Fat Joe vs Ja Rule is going down Tuesday, September 14 in New York City, per the official Verzuz account. Tickets go on sale on September 7, and we’re going to assume the venue will once again be the Madison Square Garden Theater. Many consider the last Verzuz—The LOX vs Dipset—to be the best one yet. It’s basically understood the Yonkers trio got the W, but Fat Joe and Ja Rule will have their work cut out for them to bring the same type of energy. Not so ironically, it was Ja Rule’s song, “New York,” which features Fat Joe and Jadakiss, that was one the pivotal moments in that battle. Wi...
