Police: 21 officers killed by gunmen in Akwa Ibom
The police authorities in Akwa Ibom State said they have so far lost 21 officers due to gun attacks in the state. The commissioner of police in the state, Amiengheme Andrew, disclosed this on Monday while briefing Governor Udom Emmanuel who visited the police headquarters in the state to condole with the families of the slain officers and the police over the loss. Mr Andrew also informed the governor that the police in the state lost 11 vehicles and seven firearms in the various attacks. Lagos to demolish shanties, takeover abandoned buildings
Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Monday said that the government would continue to demolish shanties across the state. Sanwo-Olu said this during the Security Stakeholders Town Hall Meeting at Ikeja, adding that the state government would also confiscate abandoned buildings. He said that the shanties, abandoned buildings and vehicles were hideouts for criminals, hence, should be tackled. Police recover stolen car within three hours in Ebonyi
The Police in Ebonyi on Monday said it recovered a car that was snatched from its owner at gunpoint within three hours of the incident. Mrs Loveth Odah, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the command, made this known in an interview with newsmen in Abakaliki. Odah also said three armed robbers were arrested. She said the men of the command were on patrol when the car was said to have been snatched and that they immediately ignited their investigative prowess, which eventually led to the recovery of the car. Two persons were on Thursday feared dead at Elemosho Village along Akure-Ondo expressway in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State when armed robbers attacked a bullion van on the road. An eyewitness said the robbers waylaid and attacked the billion van belonging to one the commercial banks. The bullion van according to the source was heading towards Akure, the state capital. Two persons were feared killed while one was injured as bank robbers attacked a bullion van at Bolorunduro area in Ondo East council area of Ondo state. An unspecified amount of money were reportedly carted away by the robbers numbering over eight. The robbery attack occurred at about 5:30pm. Ebonyi government closes illegal, private motor parks
IN a bid to checkmate the movement of arms and ammunition within the Abakaliki metropolis, Ebonyi State Government, Tuesday directed the closure of all illegal and private motor parks not expressly approved by the Ministry of Capital City Development. The Government further directed that all loading and offloading of vehicles within the state capital should only take place in approved public and private motor parks. The Presidency has said that the Aso Rock Clinic is now fully self-sufficient, saying medical service delivery has improved at the facility. The Ebonyi State Commissioner for Infrastructure Development, Engr. Fidelis Nweze, narrowly escaped gun attack on Tuesday as he abandoned his car and ran into the bush leaving his SUV at the mercy of gunmen who shot sporadically in all directions. The incident happened at the site of a proposed international airport in the State. Lagos: Police arrest protesting Uber, Bolt drivers
The police in Lagos have arrested some members of the Professional E-hailing Drivers and Private Owners Association (PEDPA), the umbrella body of e-hailing ride companies including Uber and Bolt, who had embarked on an industrial action over the services rendered by the platforms. Five drivers, including the president of PEDPA, Idris Shonuga, were arrested on Tuesday.
