OPEC: Nigeria cuts oil production to 1.4 million barrels per day

Reuters For the first time in many years, the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC, has confirmed Nigeria’s ability to cut its output from 1.7 million barrels per day, mb/d in May to 1.4mb/d in June 2020. In its July Oil Market Report, OPEC stated that the data was based on information obtained from official sources, adding that when unofficial sources are considered, Nigeria produced 1.5 mb/d during the period. Delta medical practitioners declare two-day warning strike over kidnap of colleague

Medical doctors in Delta have declared a two-day warning strike to protest the kidnap of a Principal Medical Officer Dr. Wisdom Iboyitete, who was kidnapped at the General Hospital, Ojobo, in Burutu Local Government Area of the state on Monday. The warning strike, it was learñt took effect this morning, Tuesday, June 2, 2020. ExxonMobil presents ambulances, other items to support coronavirus response

Banji Akintoye: South-West won’t tolerate influx of Almajirai

The leader of Yoruba World Congress, YWC, Professor Banji Akintoye, on Wednesday, warned that the South-West would no longer tolerate the influx of Almajirai into the zone, saying most of them have been infected with the COVID-19. Taraba discharge six coronavirus patients

The six are among the 17 COVID-19 cases so far recorded in the state. The state commissioner for Information and member of the state’s technical Committee on COVID-19, Danjuma Adamu, disclosed this at a briefing in Jalingo, the state capital. He explained that the six patients who recovered from the CoronaVirus were discharged Tuesday to reunite with their family. He further explained that those still in isolation are receiving the appropriate care needed. Medical experts decry non-compliance to NCDC guidelines

As COVID-19 confirmed cases continue to soar, health professionals have decried noncompliance with the Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, relaxation guidelines, expressing fears that the development may further worsen the spread of the infection across the country. Coronavirus diagnosed naval rating escapes from treatment centre to smoke hemp

Sundiata Post A Naval Rating who tested positive of the dreaded coronavirus pandemic in Delta State, Saturday escaped from the State treatment centre at the State University Teaching Hospital Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area of the State after threatening those working at the centre with a knife. The Naval Rating, newsmen gathered, has been pleading with those in charge of the centre to allow him go out to smoke Indian hemp since Wednesday last week but the officials denied him. EFCC: Lockdown won’t abort cases against ex-first lady, former governors, others

The lockdown arising from coronavirus appears to have slowed down the fight against corrupt practices in the country for close to six weeks. Meanwhile, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, says there is no cause for alarm as it will ensure that none of its ongoing investigations and cases in court will be aborted. The Commission is certain that as the federal and state governments begin to reopen the economy, it will ramp up legal actions to bring the suspects of financial crimes to account for their actions. “These suspects will unfailingly have their days in court,” EFCC Acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, declared.
