Taiwo Awoniyi has thanked Mainz 05 medical team for helping to save his life after a close shave with death during Sunday’s German Bundesliga matchday 31 tie between Mainz and Augsburg at Opel Arena. Awoniyi was concussed after a clash of head with Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he completed his recovery. The 22-year-old who will miss Mainz 05 next Bundesliga fixture against Borussia Dortmund spoke through his club’s official website, and thank everyone who played their part in keeping him alive.
