Jack White’s Third Man Records to Auction White Stripes Swag, Guitars, Drums and Clothing
Jack White and Third Man Records will auction off guitars, amps, personal items, stage equipment and other one-of-a-kind items from the label’s archives and White’s musical career and collection. Included in the online “garage sale” will be drum sets used in the White Stripes’ “Hardest Button To Button” video. The auction starts at 9 a.m. CST Aug. 26 and runs to 9 pm CST Aug. 30, and takes place here. Visitors must register an account to bid, and bids of $1,000 or higher will be approved by an auction house. Items on offer include stage monitor covers and pedalboards used on tour by the White Stripes, guitars from White’s personal collection, clothing used in video shoots, and other curios and equipment. Sonic Youth, Mudhoney Members Unearth Stooges Cover Recorded in 1997
The Stooges’ Ron Asheton, Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore and Steve Shelley, Mudhoney’s Mark Arm, Minutemen/Stooges Mike Watt and Sean Lennon, along with producer/musician Don Fleming and Jim Dunbar, joined forces in 1997 as Wylde Ratttz to record covers and originals for Todd Haynes’ 1998 film Velvet Goldmine, an homage to David Bowie and the ’70s glam scene. From that session, the band recorded a version of the Stooges’ “Fun House.” To celebrate the 50th anniversary of The Stooges’ second album, the group has unearthed “Fun House.” The cut features guitarist Asheton with Mudhoney’s Mark Arm on vocals and Sabir Mateen on tenor sax. Two suspects have been arrested in the murder 2002 Run-DMC DJ Jam Master Jay. SPIN confirmed that federal prosecutors in New York will announce the indictment of two men long been suspected of participating in the killing. Mark Kozelek has been accused by three women of sexual misconduct, according to an investigative piece published by Pitchfork today. Sarah Catherine Golden, a mental health specialist, told Pitchfork that she met the Sun Kil Moon and Red House Painters singer on a flight to Portugal. She was then allegedly invited to his show, and after the gig, accompanied him to his hotel, where instead of the expected party/hangout, she was alone with him in his room.
