Chris Cornell Biopic Currently in Production
Black Days, a film based on the last days in the life of Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell, who died in 2017, is currently in production, according to the film’s website. Filming is slated to begin Sept. 10. The site also states, “from the cast of the Academy Award-winning Walk the Line comes a based on true events story,” citing Johnny Holiday, who played Carl Perkins in Walk the Line, as associated with the Black Days project, presumably in the role of Cornell. AmeriFilms LLC/Road Rage Films will produce the biopic, according to film industry publication Backstage. Blavity reports the incident took place Saturday evening when cops pulled over 32-year-old Anthony McClain and a driver who they suspected was in violation of a vehicle code. That’s cop code for “suspended license.” Police said the driver cooperated with authorities and was arrested on the scene, but McClain refused the search and fled into the street while in possession of a gun. Screaming Trees alum Mark Lanegan and Earth singer/guitarist Dylan Carlson dropped their take on “Summertime” as part of the ongoing Galaxie 500 series, a video project of 20 bands covering songs from the short-lived but influential trio that formed in the late ’80s. The initial plan was a concert of Galaxie 500 covers in conjunction with Record Store Day, but it was scuttled due to the pandemic.
