Check out the performance below: [embedded content] Brian May spoke about the song in a statement. “Even though we were all aware of Freddie’s impending tragedy, we had some inspired and joyful times in the studio, making the Innuendo album. We didn’t speak much about Freddie’s illness — he just wanted to get on with ‘business as usual’ as far as possible.  But already there was only a day or two per week when Freddie was well enough to come in and work with us.  We grabbed those precious momen...

Silver Synthetic to Release Out of the Darkness EP on Third Man Records

Silver Synthetic, the New Orleans-based psychedelic-garage band, will drop their four-song Out of the Darkness EP on Jack White’s Third Man Records on Oct. 2, with a full album set to arrive in 2021. What began as a fun way for Bottomfeeders’ Chris Lyons to tinker with songs that didn’t work for that band became an entirely new project. The quartet, which formed in 2018, is comprised of Chris Lyons and Lucas Bogner of the band the Bottomfeeders, bassist Pete Campanelli and Kunal Prakash from Jeff the Brotherhood. Their first show was fittingly at ManRay Records in, of course, New Orleans. Third Man co-founder/co-owner Ben Swank recalls the first time he saw Silver Synthetic perform: “It was one of those moments that immediately caught everyone’s attention in the room when they st...

Jack Dorsey Goes Yachting With The Carters, Salty Twitter Still Not Over “Entrepreneur”

Source: Victor Boyko / Getty Want to feel broke this beautiful day?  Then come gaze at Page Six’s paparazzi photos of Jack Dorsey summering with The Carters during their family vacation.   Last week, Jay-Z and Beyoncé chartered a small yacht to ride through the “luxe waterways” of The Hamptons. Onboard to join the couple was Dorsey, who we imagined earned imaginary stripes to share air with unicorn twins Rumi and Sir.  We rarely see their offsprings in the first place, so that says a lot.  It’s not clear if this trip was for business or pleasure, but the photos suggest that it was at least a bit of both happening– one of the giveaways was catching Roc Nation executive Jay Brown lounging with the crew.  Plot twist: Jay Z and Jack are working to incorporate Tida...

Recently, we caught up with Lanegan, who had a lot to say about his new album, his autobiography and technology. He also covered Galaxie 5000’s “Summertime” with Dylan Carlson. As for Dulli, we spoke with him earlier this year about his solo album and he recently gave us his prediction for the 2020 bas...

The EP features one new song, “Bleeding,” plus covers of songs by The Delmore Brothers, Bob Dylan, Ronnie Lane, and The Flying Machine. The covers were initially released as one side of an LP included within a limited-edition catalog for the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art’s (LACMA) forthcoming retrospective for the Japanese artist Yoshitomo Nara. Artist Nara, a longtime YLT fan, worked in collaboration with the group to choose the EP’s songs. This Matador version of the EP is a single-sided 12” with original cover art by Nara, a draw...

Tamika Mallory Addresses Criticism Over “BreonnaCon” Event For Breonna Taylor

Source: Jon Cherry / Getty Tamika Mallory addressed criticism after supporters of Breonna Taylor questioned if activists and influencers were using the deceased victim’s name to clout-chase after the media rollout for a BreonnaCon event organized by her foundation, Until Freedom. We made a thrash metal cover of Rage Against the Machine and based on the subject matter of the song we wanted to feature only non-white performers. Defund the police,” said a caption on the video.
