Nigeria Finally Ready to Deploy 5G According to NCC

Prof. Umar Danbatta, the Executive Vice Chairman (EVC) of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), says that all is now set for the rollout of 5G services across the country. The NCC’s greenlight for 5G rollout is part of the fulfilment of its commitment to “put Nigeria on the frontline as a technology-driven economy,” according to Vanguard Nigeria. Danbatta said that the Commission had finally completed its preparations – “crossed all the Ts and dotted all the Is” – and is currently awaiting approval from the Federal Government to begin rolling out 5G services. Nigerian government extends deadline for SIM-NIN update to January 19, February 9

The federal government has extended the deadline for the provision of National Identification Number, NIN, by telecommunication service subscribers to 19th January and 9th February, 2021 respectively. NCC contributes N2.272 trillion to Nigeria’s GDP – chief

Umar Danbatta: NCC remits N362.34 billion to Nigerian government

At an interactive session with media managers and news editors at the weekend, he also noted that broadband penetration jumped from six per cent in 2015 to 43.02 per cent by the end of June 2020 leading to 199,307,796 by the end of the first half of 2020. Abike Dabiri-Erewa: Communications minister used armed men to evict NIDCOM staff

The Chairman, Nigerians in the Diaspora Commission, Abike Dabiri-Erewa, has disclosed that over 40 office equipment, workstations and files belonging to NIDCOM staff were still locked up at the Nigeria Communications Commission building, four months after the Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Mr Isa Pantami, allegedly ordered the eviction of the diaspora commission.
