Reuben Dangoor Is Taking His London Roots to the Basketball Court

Reuben Dangoor can’t be boxed in. The visual artist first went viral in 2015 with his regal interpretations of U.K. grime artists, depicting D Double E as a military officer and Skepta riding a horse with the Union Jack in hand. Since then, the Londoner has pushed his love for music and sports across projects in collaboration with the likes of his beloved Arsenal F.C. and England’s national football squad. Most recently, Dangoor worked with adidas for its new Predator football boot, as well as a collaborative FIFA 22 in-game jersey with David Beckham. And while consistently working on projects with a global reach, his British roots have always come first. Dangoor is now collaborating with the NBA for the sports franchises’ Creator Series. The new program is a celebration of the league’s 75...

Where to stay in Cornwall – ranked by activity

An expert guide on where to stay in Cornwall whether you want to surf, sail, hike or cycle, or simply laze on a beach The novelist and poet D. H. Lawrence once wrote that Cornwall is “like being at a window and looking out of England.” In this westerly point of mainland England, you will find a wild north coast of rugged cliffs and golden beaches, a calm south coast of sheltered waters and fishing villages, and dramatic moors in between. But Cornwall is not just a geographic microcosm; it also speaks to England’s politics.  Once a thriving industrial hub, Cornwall’s coast is still littered with old engine houses that once powered its tin and copper mines. As the industry declined, Cornwall had to reinvent itself. Today, it’s one of England’s most popular destinations thanks to its sup...

Wild continent: the best national parks in Europe

The best national parks in Europe are home to vast tracts of wilderness, often overlooked by those who flock to its cities When we think of wild continents, Europe is probably last in line. Asia’s fearsome mountains, South America’s lush rainforest and Africa’s vast savannah are surely more impressive. Europe in comparison is famous for its cities: London, Paris, Rome and their ilk.  But venture further and you’ll find gigantic glaciers, primeval forests and untouched tracts of wilderness. These areas are quite rightly protected in national parks. To help you explore the wild side of the continent, we share below the best national parks in Europe. Going coastal: 15 best sea views in England

From brooding cliffs to storybook villages, we bring you a curated list of the best sea views in England For a long time, Peter and I were ambivalent about the British staycation. For us, getting on a flight marked the start of a proper getaway. But then, a series of local trips began to change our minds. There was Clovelly, a picturesque fishing village on the north coast of Devon; Langley Castle in Northumberland; walking with my sister in the Chiltern Hills; and, for Peter, hiking the coast to coast and the South West Coast Path. These trips turned out to be some of our most memorable. Over time, we learnt to love the staycation, not least because they’re better for the environment, more affordable and usually less challenging in terms of logistics (language, customs and so on). Thankfu...

Beats by Dre Tap Marcus Rashford and Dave for Illustrative Short Film ‘Never Beaten’

In celebration of the new Premier League season, Beats by Dre has connected with artist Gaia Alari and U.K. rapper Dave to produce three pieces of artwork and a 60-second animated short film that stars Manchester United and England forward Marcus Rashford. Titled Never Beaten, the illustrative video captures Rashford’s footballing journey, articulating the winger’s perseverance during the highest and lowest points of his career so far. Dave’s narration is heard throughout the video, lending words of motivation to Rashford ahead of the new campaign.  Dave’s last two albums Psychodrama and We’re All Alone In This Together both went number one in the U.K. album charts. For this video, Dave speaks over the piano sample taken from his hit single “Verdansk.” Touching on Rashford’s...

Adidas “Pitch, Please” Gives Womxn, Girls and Non-Binary Players Equal Playing Pitch Access

With the UEFA Women’s Euro England 2022 tournament well underway, adidas has introduced its “Pitch, Please” initiative that enables Non-Binary, womxn and girl players to enjoy and gain fair access to football pitches in the United Kingdom. When it comes to football, women, girls and those who identify as Non-Binary are often at an unfair disadvantage, as pitch access is often dedicated to legacy bookings and those who already have teams. New players and teams, particularly if it’s a womxns-only team, therefore have restricted access, making the game (that has seen diversity improvements in recent years) become less inclusive than desired. As adidas notes, “Research has found that 59% of teenage girls who used to be interested in sport drop out due to inadequate opportunities and facilities...

“I Don’t Just Represent Grime, I Represent the U.K.”: An Interview With D Double E

Darren Dixon — or better known to you as D Double E — started his musical journey over 20 years ago growing up on a diet of jungle, U.K garage, and dancehall, studying the art from his older inspirations and Jamaican icons Bounty Killer, Ninjaman, and Buju Banton. Since then, the journey has been a wild one for the 42-year-old. Labeled as DJ Dan under the crew Bass Inject in the early ’90s, Dixon was a jungle and U.K. garage musician at heart until the year 1998 saw the launch of the drum and bass-centric Reckless Crew which took over London’s Rinse FM pirate radio station. It wasn’t until he was a member of the early grime collective N.A.S.T.Y. Crew alongside the likes of Ghetts and Kano that the genre became the new thing on the block. Bluku! Bluku!, Double’s 2011-released debut EP took ...
