CARICOM’s Third Magazine “The Island” Is an Ode To Black Excellence

CARICOM is an independent and U.K.-based publication that delves into the intersection between football and Black culture. Launched back in 2017, the small team behind the magic wanted to tell the underrepresented stories of Black fans, footballers, and others in the game. Now, following up on its second edition of the magazine that featured an interview with ex-Chelsea striker Solomon Kalou about the best Caribbean players to appear in the Premier League, CARICOM has just presented its newest edition, which is aptly dubbed “The Island.” This latest offering explores the current times of Black people’s very existence being increasingly defined by their experiences — and endless discussions — of racism. “The Island” represents the notion of not playing by those rules and therefore...

Lancey Foux Wants You to Play His New Single “All Night Long”

North London rapper Lancey Foux has just released his latest single “All Night Long,” which is the latest roll-out for his upcoming album Life In Hell which is dropping later this month. After remaining relatively low-key since his 2021-released project LIVE.EVIL, Foux is now dropping music in abundance after his last single “Lancey or Lancey” dropped less than a fortnight ago.  Produced by BNYX, “All Night Long” is a trippy, trap-leaning effort with Auto-Tuned melodies throughout. And, much like the track’s subject matter, it’s most definitely worth the reloads “All Night Long.” The record hasn’t come with any accompanying visuals as of yet, but the musical value of the song emphasizes Foux’s lust for escapism with quick-fire lyricism and a deep dive into the...

Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur. The North London Derby. Not only one of the biggest games in the world of football but one of the most emotionally-charged sporting events of the calendar year. There’s something different in the air on match days like this – so it was only fitting to capture the energy, emotion and electricity of the event by the people that know the contest better than anyone else.  Islington-born photographer Danika Magdelena and creative director TJ Sawyerr are not only two of the most exciting talents in the UK creative scene, but two of the most excited people in North London on game day. Both lifelong Gunners (die-hard Arsenal supporters) headed down to one of the biggest games of the Premier League season from Finsbury Park station on a bright, October mo...

Palace Drops Exclusive DJ Mixes By Omar S, Robert Hood and Rory Milanes on Apple Music

Music sticks to subcultures through thick and thin. Cast your mind back to the Beastie Boys and skate culture, The Beatles with the hippie movement, Elvis Presley with the resurgence of teenage heartbreak and entertainment, or in a contemporary world, the likes of A$AP Rocky and Travis Scott whose music now plays into — and helps to set — fashion trends. We know this is true, but Palace knows it even better, and to flex its musical prowess the London-based skateboarding brand has teamed up with Apple Music to launch an exclusive set of DJ mixes. Enlisting Omar S, Robert Hood, and Rory Milanes (who is also a Palace team boarder), Palace curates a selection of sounds that span everything from chilled sessions to Detroit House and Techno, many of which have previously featured in some of your...

K-Trap’s Time to Take Over Is Now

In 2018, drill artists Skengdo x AM were handed a nine-month prison sentence for performing their song “Attempted 1.0” at a London concert, with court labeling the offense as a “breach of a gang injunction.” U.K. drill was always going to find its seat in the scene — despite the authorities’ efforts to penalise the genre — and no one could have anticipated the rise that it’s had over the last five years. And while the origins of the sound came from the land of southside Chicago (thank you Chief Keef), British producers have expanded the sounds’ influence with sprinkles of afrobeats, bashment, grime, and R&B – and in drill’s current entirety, nothing seems to be off-limit. With this being said, drill music — and U.K. road rap — is consistently producing raw talent, and it’s giving ...

K Trap Gears up for Mixtape Release With New Single “Spoilt”

Hot on the heels of his last single “Busy,” and only seven months after his collaborative mixtape with Blade Brown, Lambeth-born K Trap is back with a new song entitled “Spoilt.” The record also comes with news of a new project aptly dubbed The Last Whip II, a long-awaited follow-up to 2017’s first edition.  For “Spoilt,” the Remedee and Nathaniel London-produced track is rough-and-ready U.K. drill. Coming as a rowdy anthem destined for the mosh pits, the lyrical substance touches on putting in the work, reaping the rewards, and not associating yourself with enemies. The accompanying visuals directed by Romael, are just as lively as the audio as the clean-cut edit takes us on a late-night tour of K Trap’s home of Gipsy Hill, London.  You can watch th...
