HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Future Publishing / Getty The U.S. Supreme Court saw one of its justices electing to retire in Stephen Breyer, paving the way for President Joe Biden to appoint a new justice to the bench of the highest court in the land. Sen. Roger Wicker, a Republican senator representing Mississippi, said in a recent interview that Biden’s selection will be a “beneficiary” of affirmative action along with other quips. The Mississippi Free Press published a report highlighting that Sen. Wicker made an appearance on SuperTalk Mississippi Radio on Friday (Jan. 28). This Guy: Clarence Thomas Says Federal Laws Against Marijuana May Not Be Needed

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: ERIN SCHAFF / Getty Clarence Thomas, one of the most conservative voices on the Supreme Court might have just put the nail in the coffin on federal opposition to marijuana legalization. This past Monday (June 28), the Supreme Court declined to hear a new case related to a Colorado medical marijuana dispensary seeking federal tax breaks that other businesses were allowed. Thomas’ opinion in the case of Standing Akimbo LLC v. Donald Trump allies in Congress to challenge his loss to Joe Biden

A band of President Donald Trump’s Republican allies planned a last-ditch effort on Wednesday to undo his election loss to Democrat Joe Biden, a bid almost certain to fail that comes on the same day their party is poised to lose its majority in the Senate. The Republican-led Senate and Democratic-controlled House of Representatives were due to meet to formally certify Biden’s victory in the Nov. 3 election in proceedings that could stretch past midnight. In a joint session of Congress, Trump’s allies plan to challenge the results from a handful of states won by Biden. Thousands of pro-Trump protesters converged on Washington ahead of the session at his urging. Some clashed with police overnight. Biden won the election by a 306-232 count in the state-by-state Electoral College and by a marg...

Joe Biden picks diverse team of top economic advisers

President-elect Joe Biden named former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen as his Treasury secretary nominee on Monday, and named three women to other top economic posts, setting the stage for a more diverse White House. While Biden’s transition to the presidency on Jan. 20 appeared to be hitting its stride, he himself was hobbling after fracturing his foot while playing with his dog on Saturday and will wear a protective boot for several weeks, his doctors said. The incoming administration has been hampered for weeks by Republican President Donald Trump, who has refused to concede to Biden, a Democrat. Trump has said without providing evidence that the Nov. 3 vote was fraudulent, claims that state and federal election officials have dismissed. Biden named leading members of an economic tea...
