James Bromley, one of the lawyers representing debtors in FTX’s bankruptcy case, has criticized social media activity against his law firm promulgated by posts from former CEO Sam Bankman-Fried. In a Jan. 20 hearing in the District of Delaware, lawyers spoke on motions dealing with potential conflicts of interest between Sullivan & Cromwell, the law firm tasked with the investigation of FTX’s bankruptcy, and the crypto exchange. Bromley, a partner at Sullivan & Cromwell, pushed back against the narrative that the law firm would be unable to act as a disinterested examiner given it had previously provided legal services to FTX and one of its former partners, Ryne Miller, went on to become the FTX US lead counsel. On Jan. 19, former FTX chief regulatory officer Daniel Friedberg filed...
Zedd has a timely request for Twitter’s new owner, Elon Musk: reduce the hate speech. After Musk’s acquisition of Twitter last year, hate speech has risen exponentially on the platform, according to The Verge. The Center for Countering Digital Hate, the Anti-Defamation League and more found that slurs against Black Americans rose 302% after Musk’s takeover. Moreover, slurs against gay men reportedly increased by 158%. Musk, who has long championed electronic music, has been vocal about his goal to use Twitter as a vehicle to enable free speech without censorship. Another priority after his acquisition of Twitter was to reduce the amount of bots on the platform and prosecute scammers. But now Musk is facing another predicament with no room for error: hate speech. The...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: Edmund Eckstein / Getty / James Earl Jones If you opened up Twitter and saw James Earl Jones trending, you can breathe a sigh of relief. It’s the iconic actor’s 92nd birthday. But everything is okay. James Earl Jones is fine. Today is his 92nd evolution around the sun, and we could not think of a better time to celebrate him. Born in Arkabutla Mississippi in 1931, Jones is best known for his recognizable voice that strikes fear into the hearts of the Rebel Alliance and Jedi Knights in the Star Wars films as Darth Vader. SkyBridge Capital founder Anthony Scaramucci is investing in a crypto company founded by the former president of FTX US. According to an email to Bloomberg, Scaramucci said he would be investing his own personal funds to support ex-FTX US president Brett Harrison’s new venture, which became known just three weeks after the collapse of crypto exchange FTX. It is understood that the crypto software company — which doesn’t yet have a name — will enable crypto traders to create algorithmic-based strategies to access different markets — both centralized and decentralized. It is also understood that Harrison has been seeking a fundraising target as high as $10 million for a $100 million valuation. In a Jan. 14 tweet responding to Harrison’s lengthy thread on Sam Bankman-Fried and his ...
Marjorie Taylor Greene decided it was Fuck with Dre day and now everyone else is celebrating, as she tells TMZ she was locked out of her Twitter account for posting a video soundtracked by Dr. Dre’s music without permission. On Monday, January 9th, the part-time Congresswoman and full-time troll uploaded a long and repetitive video of her walking various places as the first chords of “Still D.R.E” played on a loop. “It’s time to begin,” she wrote, “and they can’t stop what’s coming.” But as it turns out, they can. Dr. Dre’s attorney Howard King sent MTJ a cease and desist letter, writing, “Mr. Young [Dre] has not, and will never, grant you permission to broadcast or disseminate any of his music,” and adding, “We’re writing because we think an actual lawmaker should be making...
Three Arrows Capital (3AC) founders Zhu Su and Kyle Davies were subpoenaed on Twitter on Jan. 5, after the liquidators granted permission from Singapore authorities following a United States bankruptcy court order, according to information given to Cointelegraph by advisory firm Teneo. In the case of Davies, the Southern District of New York Bankruptcy Court granted the subpoena order as he is a U.S. citizen, while the Singapore courts granted the order to both co-founders, explained a spokesperson from Teneo. As reported by Cointelegraph, liquidators’ lawyers have repeatedly failed to engage with the founders in recent months. “A communication protocol was agreed between the liquidators and founders but has not yielded satisfactory cooperation,” according to a hearing presenta...

HipHopWired Featured Video Source: NurPhoto / Getty / Twitter Elon Musk continues to make Twitter unbearable and annoying to use. Twitter will begin relaxing its ban on political ads, a policy it has upheld for a long time, the company announced Tuesday, Jan. 3. “We believe that cause-based advertising can facilitate public conversation around important topics,” the company tweeted. “Moving forward, we will align our advertising policy with that of TV and other media outlets.” Related Stories What that now means is that lobby groups and elected officials will once again be able to flood your feeds with political ads. Twitter banned the practice in 2019, before Musk, unfortunately, took over the country. The 2019 policy insists candidates earn political influence and do not buy it, gaining ...
HipHopWired Featured Video CLOSE Source: JUSTIN TALLIS / Getty/ Greta Thunberg Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg put on a masterclass on how to check a troll, and all she needed was one tweet to make it happen. Manosphere meathead Andrew Tate f**ked around and found out when he picked a fight with the wrong teen on Twitter. Known for spreading straight-up misogyny, financial scams, and other heada**ery on TikTok, Tate decided to try Greta Thunberg and mock her on Elon Musk’s Twitter. For those who don’t know Tate, including us, he was a struggle kickboxer before he found his calling being an “alt-right influencer,” who proudly describes himself as “absolutely a sexist” and “absolutely a misogynist.” He also believes that women “belong in the home” and were “given to the man and belon...
