For some, prom is something high schoolers look forward to since beginning their four-year journey. With COVID-19 shutdowns, that capstone opportunity has been taken away. Fear not, because Mr. Carmack is here to save the day by teaming up with NOODLES to throw their own virtual prom as an alternative for all those students missing out, and even those who want to relive their glory years. The 3-hour night to remember will be hosted on NOODLES’ Twitch channel Saturday, May 16th from 6-9 PM PST. “I chose this date because it’s my high school’s real prom date! Shout out James Logan High School + SOTA High School in SF,” wrote NOODLES in her Instagram post. Get ready for an evening of music, dresses, and suits with prom attire heavily encouraged. If you do end up dre...

Yesterday’s preview of ZHU‘s new livestreaming party, Club ZHUM, certainly fit its billing as an “afterhours virtual rave.” With fuzzy, retro visuals broadcasting the producer from “inside” an old school television screen through Zoom, the performance was low-tech but high-energy, bringing us back to the dark, sweaty days of warehouse clubbing. Grungy and exclusive, the set was announced in classic ZHU style through a cryptic Monday night Instagram Story and an email sent to fans just before it began. Only 500 made it from the waiting room into the stream on a first come first serve basis, where they were treated to unreleased tracks and suspenseful deep house grooves. There was also an exclusive link to a “Club ZHUM” T-shirt on sa...

Boys Noize surprised his fans today with a brand new mini album called STRICTLY BVNKER. Recorded during livestreams via Twitch over the course of the last few days of April, the final project is a microcosm of Boys Noize’s raw analogue sessions. Spanning 7 tracks, STRICTLY BVNKER oozes with the dark, ominous flavors that catapulted Boys Noize to the upper echelon of electronic music in the early 2000s. The project proves that he’s still riding that pinnacle, representing a pristine song-cycle of electro house and breaks that are bursting at the seams with industrial flair. Each track is ideal for an underground warehouse party and they encompass a broad range of electronic subgenres, including midtempo (“4TWNTY2”), breaks (“Mftrfckr”), and left...
Just when we needed them the most, the greatest public servants of all time returned with the Parks and Recreation special. Even while socially distancing, Leslie Knope, Ron Swanson, Donna Meagle, and the rest of Pawnee’s favorite residents reminded us how to look out for each other and to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. So to honor the members of the Parks and Rec department, we’re ranking them all on our Twitch show Tier Drop. What’s going to make this particular ranking so challenging is how great the core cast of Parks and Rec is. Whether dorky like Ben Wyatt or baller like Tom Haverford, irritatingly perky like Chris Traeger or lovably misanthropic like April Ludgate, the Pawnee Parks Department is full of people you want to watch. And that’s sayin...
