Disney Working on a National Treasure TV Series

Disney already announced they’re working on a third National Treasure film, but it turns out that’s not all the Mouse House has in store for the goofy historical fiction title. In a new interview with Collider, producer Jerry Bruckheimer revealed plans for a National Treasure TV series that would live on Disney Plus. According to Bruckheimer, the TV show spin-off won’t follow Benjamin Franklin Gates, a.k.a. Nicolas Cage, but rather a “much younger” crew equally committed to undergoing made-up, elaborate, risk-riddled plots to save a watered-down version of American history. “We’re certainly working on one [National Treasure] for streaming and we’re working on one for the big screen. Hopefully, they’ll both come together and we’ll bring you another National Treasure, but...

HBO Max is weeks away from dropping 10,000 hours of premium content into your living room. One of the more anticipated facets to the programming, however, is the onslaught of anime heading your way. In anticipation of the network’s May 27th launch, WarnerMedia and Crunchyroll have unveiled the titles you can expect to find on day one. All in all, 17 Crunchyroll titles will be made available immediately upon launch, including Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Re:ZERO – Starting Life in Another World, and In/Spectre. Naturally, the collection will expand over time with titles such as Hunter x Hunter and Death Note already confirmed for the immediate future. “Anime is a celebrated, diverse art form with a rich culture rooted in imaginative worlds and vibrant characters. Crunchyroll has centra...

The event goes down on Monday, May 18th at 5 p.m. EDT via Sony Pictures TV’s Community YouTube page. In addition to Glover, who left the series in Season 5, the event will include Joel McHale, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Yvette Nicole Brown, Alison Brie, Jim Rash, Ken Jeong, and series creator Dan Harmon. Sorry, Pierce. Yes, Chevy Chase won’t need to be involved since they’ll be reading Season 5 episode “Cooperative Polygraphy”, which revolves around the funeral o...

Macaulay Culkin to Have “Crazy, Erotic Sex” with Kathy Bates in American Horror Story

We knew Macaulay Culkin joining Season 10 of American Horror Story would lead to some weird plot twists, but we didn’t expect him having “crazy, erotic sex” with Kathy Bates to be one of them. According to show creator Ryan Murphy, that’s exactly what viewers should prepare for when they tune into the upcoming episodes. The next season of the horror anthology show has already been written and cast. Unfortunately, production is on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, but that didn’t stop Murphy from revealing some details in an interview with E! News. Murphy began by explaining why he cast Culkin in American Horror Story in the first place, citing a love of the actor’s work, both old and new. “So, I have this very, very great insane part. And I asked to speak to him on the phone and he sai...

Saturday Night Live to Air New “At-Home” Episode for Season 45 Finale

Much like everything else, Saturday Night Live’s 45th season was thrown for a loop when COVID-19 effectively shut down the entire world. The cast and crew have twice filled the Saturday night airwaves normally reserved for SNL with “At-Home” episodes, and they’ll do so again this weekend in what marks the season’s finale episode. The two previous “At-Home” episodes have featured celebrity cameos from Tom Hanks, Brad Pitt, Paul Rudd, Adam Sandler, and Larry David, as well as musical performances from Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Miley Cyrus. You can probably anticipate a similarly celebrity-filled episode this weekend, but SNL is of course keeping things close to the vest for now. This weekend’s episode could also mark the final turn for several veteran cast members: in particular, Colin Jos...

Mark Hamill Joins the Dark Side in What We Do in the Shadows First Look

It looks like the Dark Side has finally sunk its teeth into Luke Skywalker, as Star Wars icon Mark Hamill has a guest spot on FX’s What We Do in the Shadows. News of the role first broke back in January, and now we have our first look at the actor in full vampire garb, which you can see below (via EW). Hamill portrays an ancient bloodsucker in an episode called “On the Run”. Turns out his character is owed a debt by Matt Berry’s Laszlo, and he’s risen to collect. For whatever reason, Laszlo isn’t able to repay his old vampire pal, so he goes into hiding. Hamill has been a vocal fan of both the original What We Do in the Shadows movie from Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi as well as the FX series adaptation. Speaking about getting the role, Hamill said, “The whole cast is on...

Tiger King Park Reopens to Huge Crowds Despite Social Distancing Guidelines

Netflix docuseries Tiger King was a perfect storm: ridiculous characters, mockable music, and a release date that caught freshly quarantined Americans itching for something new to watch. This past weekend, the infamous zoo at the center of it all held its grand reopening since closing due to the coronavirus pandemic. Unsurprisingly, fans flocked to the zoo to rub elbows with the villainous celebrities — blatantly ignoring social distancing guidelines in the process. Recently renamed “Tiger King Park” to capitalize on every inch of newfound fame, the zoo was packed with hundreds of paying visitors throughout the weekend, reports TMZ. The demand was so high that a line snaked around the Wynnewood, Oklahoma lot. Allegedly Tiger King Park reopened under “new CDC social distancing and sanitatio...

Damien Chazelle’s Netflix Series The Eddy Is A Mess Without the Music: Review

The Pitch: The Academy Award-winning wunderkind director Damien Chazelle has made his name largely on films all about jazz, from his 2009 indie debut Guy and Madeline on a Park Bench to 2014’s searing music-school drama Whiplash and to 2016’s widescreen musical throwback La La Land. But with The Eddy, he’s one of the lead behind-the-scenes voices on an eight-episode limited streaming series set largely in a smoky Parisian nightclub whose creative leader is a mercurial ex-jazz pianist (André Holland) with a dark past, a troubled daughter, and thugs threatening him. So, to paraphrase Barton Fink, it’s an Oscar-winning director, one of the best actors of his generation, and Netflix. Whaddya need, a road map? The Language of Music: The first thing to know about The Eddy is that, apparentl...

Jimmy Fallon Impersonates Nicolas Cage Playing Tiger King’s Joe Exotic: Watch

The idea of Jimmy Fallon impersonating Nicolas Cage playing Tiger King’s Joe Exotic reads like something an Internet algorithm made up. Alas, The Tonight Show clown king made it a reality on Tuesday night, capitalizing on the news of the forthcoming scripted series. Basically, it’s Fallon doing his best bar room gesticulation of Cage, only wearing all the Tiger King accoutrements. The bleach-blonde wig? Check. The ’90s Fleer Ultra shades? Check. The Spirit Halloween threads? Check. He even wrote a country song. Of course, this writer is well aware of the hypocrisy that he’s writing this up and promoting it. But, if you’re like him, and already convinced the world is teetering on the edge of destruction, then perhaps you’ll take joy in muting the video and simply imagining Fallon has just l...

Tier Drop Ranks Parks and Recreation Characters on Twitch

Just when we needed them the most, the greatest public servants of all time returned with the Parks and Recreation special. Even while socially distancing, Leslie Knope, Ron Swanson, Donna Meagle, and the rest of Pawnee’s favorite residents reminded us how to look out for each other and to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. So to honor the members of the Parks and Rec department, we’re ranking them all on our Twitch show Tier Drop. What’s going to make this particular ranking so challenging is how great the core cast of Parks and Rec is. Whether dorky like Ben Wyatt or baller like Tom Haverford, irritatingly perky like Chris Traeger or lovably misanthropic like April Ludgate, the Pawnee Parks Department is full of people you want to watch. And that’s sayin...

Steve Carell’s Netflix Comedy Space Force Gets First Trailer: Watch

Space Force, the upcoming Netflix comedy series from The Office co-creator Greg Daniels and Steve Carell, has received its first teaser trailer in advance of its May 29th premiere. Watch it below. Carell, who also serves as co-creator and executive producer, stars as Mark R. Naird, “a General tapped by the White House to lead a new branch of the Armed Forces with the goal of putting American ‘Boots on the Moon’ by 2024.” If you haven’t guessed by now, the series directly riffs on Donald Trump’s ludicrous Space Force idea. Assisting Carell with this mission is an all-star cast that includes John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz, Lisa Kudrow, Noah Emmerich, Diana Silvers, Tawny Newsome, Jimmy O. Yang, Jane Lynch, and Fred Willard. Paul King (of Paddington 2 and...

Jerry Seinfeld Says Netflix’s Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee Likely Over: “I Did That Tour”

Jerry Seinfeld isn’t one to linger. He’s the master of his domain, to borrow from his own words. That’s why we’re not surprised to hear he’s likely finished with Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee. Or that his new Netflix special, 23 Hours to Kill, might be his last. In a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Seinfeld digressed on the former Crackle series, saying: “We haven’t planned anything with that show, I kind of feel like if I did that tour.” He went on to stress how it’s actually a harder show to shoot than the series lets on, adding: “I don’t know, I feel like I may have done that exploration at this point.” He also feels the same about standup specials, contending: “Don’t overstay your welcome.” Again, this isn’t much of a shocker seeing how it took him 22 years to follow...
