Disney Announces Vinyl Reissue of Daft Punk’s Iconic “Tron: Legacy” Soundtrack

Daft Punk are the gift that keep on giving. In celebration of the 40-year anniversary of the original TRON film, Disney has announced a vinyl reissue of the 1982 sci-fi classic’s soundtrack. The company is also pressing new vinyl of Daft Punk’s iconic TRON: Legacy score and subsequent remix album, 2011’s TRON: Legacy Reconfigured, which features reworks of the robots’ music by Avicii, M83, Boys Noize and The Glitch Mob, among others. TRON: Legacy remains Daft Punk’s only film score. Featuring an 85-piece orchestra, the soundtrack took over two years to create and eventually debuted atop Billboard‘s Dance/Electronic Albums chart. In late 2021, 11 years to the day, the timeless album reclaimed that top spot. The original TRON film was scored by legend...

Daft Punk’s “Tron: Legacy” Soundtrack Tops Dance/Electronic Charts 11 Years After Release

Nearly 11 years ago to the day, Daft Punk‘s famed Tron: Legacy soundtrack debuted atop Billboard‘s Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart. Now, as 2021 draws to a close, the album has once again found its way to #1. As if that wasn’t an impressive enough testament to the diehard loyalty of the Daft Punk fandom, the sales data validates that 94% of the 10,000 album units sold between December 10th through the 16th were physical copies.  To uncover what’s driving the sudden 1,364% uptick from the prior period, we need look no further than the release of the new transparent blue and clear editions of the vinyl print, which just recently went on sale. As with the 2010 original vinyl release, the new edition arrived as a Target exclusive. With the robots having...

Daft Punk Has Split Up After 28 Years

Legendary electronic duo Daft Punk has officially split up after 28 years. They broke the news to fans with a heartbreaking excerpt from their 2006 film Electroma. Fittingly titled “Epilogue,” the 8-minute video signals the end of Daft Punk and echoes the melancholia of the conclusion of the most pioneering act in dance music history. The video shows the duo behind Daft Punk, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo, walking through a desert until Bangalter eventually stops walking altogether. He then sheds his Daft Punk jacket and turns around to reveal a power box. Conflicted with switching on the self-destruct sequence, de Homem-Christo finally does and watches Bangalter walk away.  After 60 short seconds, the robot explodes in...

Daft Punk Upload Tron: Legacy Bonus Tracks to Streaming Services

Daft Punk have revealed Tron: Legacy — The Complete Edition, a 10th anniversary update of their only film soundtrack. The expanded reissue contains a total of nine bonus tracks, and you can stream it below via Apple Music or Spotify. This comes on the heels of their September vinyl box set from Mondo, which notably included seven previously-unreleased songs: “Sea of Simulation”, “ENCOM, Part II”, “ENCOM, Part I”, “Round One”, “Castor”, and “Reflections”. That deluxe edition was only available on vinyl until this week, when it suddenly appeared on some streaming services for the first time. But it had changed over the last couple of months, acquiring an additional two bonus tracks (“Father and Sons” and “Outlands, Part II”, which were previously iTunes exclusives) as well as the fittin...

The Complete Edition of Daft Punk’s “TRON: Legacy” Soundtrack is Now on Apple Music and Spotify

In celebration of the 10th anniversary of TRON: Legacy, nine elusive tracks from Daft Punk‘s Grammy-nominated score have been added to a number of streaming services, including Apple Music and Spotify. The new releases add on to the original and make up “The Complete Edition” of the soundtrack. It’s worth noting that the newly added songs are not new in the sense that they were unreleased, but rather they weren’t widely available without some searching. Back in September, a special edition of the soundtrack was released on vinyl, which included some of the complied songs, while it’s been reported that the others were previously exclusive to Apple platforms.  Unsurprising to those familiar with the legendary duo, they has not commented on the re...
