Manchester United have been heavily linked with moves for Raphael Varane and Kieran Trippier this summer. United are desperate to improve their defensive unit, and they appear to be closing in on the duo. According to the Sun, both deals are ‘all but done’, and announcements could be made towards the end of next week. The Red Devils are expected to pay £50 million for Varane, while Trippier will cost around £18m. Varane has just one year left on his current contract with Real Madrid, who are under pressure to cash in on him this summer. Manchester United have apparently made their move to sign the former Tottenham Hotspur defender Kieran Trippier. According to the Guardian, Atletico Madrid have turned down the first official proposal from the Red Devils and they value the defender at £34.4 million. Manchester United could certainly use more depth in the full-back positions and Trippier can play on both flanks. Furthermore, he is much more effective going forward as compared to Aaron Wan-Bssaka and he would probably be an instant starter at Old Trafford. Trippier picked up six assists in La Liga this past season.
