Tracy Morgan Playing Louis Armstrong in Self-Financed Biopic

Tracy Morgan’s next role could show off a different side of his acting. As confirmed by Coming 2 America co-star Jermaine Fowler, Morgan plans to portray late jazz great Louis Armstrong in a self-financed biopic. Fowler shared the revelation in an interview with NME after being asked whether he thinks Morgan’s acting chops are underrated. “I do. I would love to see him do something dramatic,” Fowler said. “In fact, he showed us a clip of a movie he’s financing that’s really, really dope. He wants to play Louis Armstrong in a biopic and I believe he can do it.” He continued by saying Morgan sounds and looks exactly like Armstrong in the clip. “If he can truly pull that off I think it’ll put Tracy on another level altogether,” Fowler added. Taraji P. Henson also confirmed Morgan’s ...

Coming 2 America Is Not 2 Bad: Review

The Pitch: The king has returned! Eddie Murphy is back to check in on his 1988 invention Akeem, the now-ruler of the fictional African nation of Zamunda. As established in Coming to America, Zamunda is both a lavish and antiquated locale: not a lot of TVs, multitudes of rituals and ceremonies, beautiful interior design that would make a real estate mogul blush, all affectionately anachronistic. Akeem’s content with his three daughters and his loving queen Lisa (Shari Headley) by his side. Yet for the sake of kick-starting a sequel, he needs a male heir to avoid war with General Izzi (Wesley Snipes), leader of Nextdoria (you come up with a better fake name). And as it just so happens, Akeem hooked with up a woman named Mary (Leslie Jones) in the ‘80s, and unknown to Akeem, Mary raised his s...

Supreme Taps Tracy Morgan As Spoonie Luv For Valentine’s Day PSA

Source: Supreme / Supreme If you’re a fan of Comedy Central show Crank Yankers, you’re no doubt familiar with the character Spooniec Luv, who is voiced by comedian Tracy Morgan. The smooth-talking playboy is the perfect fit as he hosts a 2-minute clip for streetwear destination Supreme on this Valentine’s Day. Spoonie Luv from Up Above is holding court at the Supreme store in Los Angeles as he runs down numerous examples of what love is. While dipped in a black box logo hoodie, Spoonie relays how everything from buying the crackhead outside the chicken spot a 2-piece with coleslaw and using your girlfriend’s birthday as the pin for your EBT card is all “love.” Safe bet that Supreme will be dropping a look at their new collection for Spring/Summer 2021 sooner than later. For now, peep the m...

Tracy Morgan Surprises Residents At Brooklyn Community Center Opening

Source: Michael Loccisano / Getty Tracy Morgan kept it lowkey when he returned to his old stomping grounds in Bedford Stuyvesant last week. It was for a great cause, too. On Nov. 6, the comedian surprised locals attending a ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new multi-million dollar community center at Marcy Houses, causing a welcomed frenzy as soon as he was spotted at the event. What a feeling to be among community members and leaders who have worked so hard to fulfill this project 20 years in the making. Today, we cut the ribbon at Marcy Houses Community Center. Thanks to @RCornegyJr, @NYCMayorsOffice, and a surprise visit from @TracyMorgan. pic.twitter.com/ks0xfVUkdM — Rep. Tracy Morgan & Wife Megan Wollover Are Separating

Source: VALERIE MACON / Getty Looks like love in this day and age just doesn’t seem to hold up as well as in decades past (damn social media!). After only five years of wedded bliss, Tracy Morgan and his wife, Megan Wollover have filed for divorce according to PEOPLE. The surprise split comes 8 years after The Last O.G. star announced he was happily engaged to Wollover while on the red carpet of the Emmy’s in 2012. It took a few years but the couple finally walked down the aisle in 2015, 14 months months after the 51-year-old comedian survived a horrific highway crash that led to Morgan getting a whopping $90 million settlement from Walmart after one of it’s trucks slammed into his tour bus. Though with that paper you’d think it would’ve been an extravagant wedding, but it turned out to be...

30 Rock Reunion Special: How to Watch, Premiere Time, and Everything You Need to Know

On Thursday, July 16th, the cast of 30 Rock are reuniting for a one-time-only scripted special. It’s debuting on NBC, which you can watch with a free 7-day trial of Hulu + Live TV. It’s been seven years since the hit sitcom concluded its seven-season, 138-episode run in January of 2013. Now, like its sister NBC program Parks and Recreation, the beloved comedy is heading back to the air for a purpose-driven reunion special. While the Parks and Recs crew re-teamed to support Feeding America’s COVID-19 Response Fund, the 30 Rock-ers have gotten back together for a far more corporate purpose — which, given the very nature of the show itself, makes it a perfectly meta exercise in corporate synergy. So, why exactly have the doors to Studio 6H been reopened, and how can you watch it all unfo...

Nerds! The 30 Rock Reunion Special Is Now Streaming in Full: Watch

Attention 30 Rock lovers — and sorry if that word bums you out unless it’s between the words ‘meat’ and ‘pizza’ — but the 30 Rock reunion special has finally arrived. If you want to go to there, you can watch it now on the NBC website. Unlike other recent reunions, such as Parks and Recreation’s fundraiser for Feeding America, 30 Rock: A One-Time Special is in service of NBC’s corporate overlords. Granted, as Jack Donaghy once said, every television show exists “to fill time between car commercials.” But here, the products being sold are NBC and its new streaming service Peacock, and half the commercials are seamlessly integrated into the reunion itself. But the special’s writers Tina Fey and Robert Carlock are also mocking their own willingness to shill, so it fits into the trad...

Scoob! Is The Avengers of Hanna-Barbera Movies: Review

A New Mystery: Following a prologue that shows how Shaggy (Will Forte), Scooby-Doo (Frank Welker), Daphne (Amanda Seyfried), Fred (Zac Efron), and Velma (Gina Rodriguez) met and formed Mystery Incorporated, the film flashes forward 10 years as the gang is trying to find funding for their new base of operations. They are approached by potential investor Simon Cowell (yes, really), who refuses to fund the group after declaring Shaggy and Scooby inessential to the team. Soon after, the teenage hippie and his dog are attacked by a squadron of chainsaw-wielding robots before they are saved by the Falcon Fury and its inhabitants: Blue Falcon (Mark Wahlberg), Dee Dee Sykes (Kiersey Clemmons) and Dynomutt (Ken Jeong). Together, they are trying to find the three skulls of Cerberus (yes, that Cerber...
