The South-East Caucus of the National Assembly said it was surprised with the recent spike in violence in the South-East region, noting that it is now worried over the latest developments, which have thrown Igbo land into violence and confusion. Police commences investigation into murder of ex-UniAbuja student
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command said it has commenced an investigation into the murder of one Miss Blessing Otula. Otula, a former student of the University of Abuja, was murdered by her assailants who dumped her body inside the gutter along the Iddo Village axis of the FCT. Public Relations Officer for the command Yusuf Mariam, who made this known in a statement, condemned the gruesome act and called on residents to be vigilant and report all suspicious movement to police. The Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, AUPCTRE, has accused the Federal Government of being responsible for the strike embarked upon by the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria, JUSUN and the Parliamentary Staff Association of Nigeria, PASAN. The Oluwo of Iwo, Oba Abdulrasheed Akanbi, has declared war against ritual killings in his domain, saying he would confiscate the ritualists’ den that was recently discovered in Iwo. Oba Akanbi, who condemned ritual killings, said no man of conscience would kill fellow human beings for monetary gain.
