Kemp is the Director of Sales at Toolroom Records, an influential record label helmed by house music luminary Mark Knight. Alongside over 30 others, he’s set to cycle 500 kilometers —roughly 310 miles—from London to ADE, the world’s preeminent electronic music summit. The philanthropic expedition is set for October 16-19. Kemp and his contemporaries are fundraising for Bridges for Music, a nonprofit that operates a number of schools offering holistic music programs for at-risk youth. “The simple act of helping others is something t...

Toolroom label boss Mark Knight has enjoyed a lasting legacy as a thought leader within the house music scene for the majority of his career. Through his tenure, he has seen the explosion and maturation of the genre over the course of decades. As Knight reflected on the thesis for his debut album Untold Business, he was acutely aware of the genre’s successes and pitfalls. Disillusioned by the churn-and-burn of today’s streaming economy, Knight brought his creative focus back in time to the 90s, the golden era of house music in his view. Nothing quite captures the decade’s unbridled sense of optimism like Knight’s lead single “Everything’s Gonna Be Alright.” Sung by the London Community Gospel Choir, it’s a combination of ...

The techno community has been missing a singular figure since the Parisian DJ Technasia went silent. It has been five long years since he dropped the 2015 collaboration “Suga” with Green Velvet, but the dry spell is finally over. Technasia has made his triumphant return to Toolroom Records with the club-ready single “Bring It Back.” The track is an homage to the current state of dance music. Since Technasia left on hiatus, the scene has changed drastically with COVID-19 bringing live music to a standstill. “Bring It Back” embodies the sentiment we all are feeling: we want club culture back. The creative process to form the single is unlike anything we’ve heard, calling on his fellow Toolroom family to send voice notes of what they miss a...
