Third Man Records auctions off drum kits from The White Stripes’ “Hardest Button to Button” video This past June, Third Man Records unearthed old footage of The White Stripes’ first-ever TV performance filmed back in 2000. The Jack White-founded label is now offering fans the chance to physically own a piece of Third Man history via an online auction. Set to run from August 26th through the 30th, the “Garage Sale” will feature “one-of-a-kind” collector’s items from the label’s archives. Jack White’s Third Man Records to Auction White Stripes Swag, Guitars, Drums and Clothing
Jack White and Third Man Records will auction off guitars, amps, personal items, stage equipment and other one-of-a-kind items from the label’s archives and White’s musical career and collection. Included in the online “garage sale” will be drum sets used in the White Stripes’ “Hardest Button To Button” video. The auction starts at 9 a.m. CST Aug. 26 and runs to 9 pm CST Aug. 30, and takes place here. Visitors must register an account to bid, and bids of $1,000 or higher will be approved by an auction house. Big Joanie offer a fuzzy post-punk facelift to Solange’s “Cranes in the Sky” for a new single, out Aug. 14 via Third Man Records. The British trio added distorted guitars and booming drums to their cover. Solange issued the original track as the lead single from her third LP, 2016’s A Seat at the Table. Third Man Records Unearths 1973 Johnny Cash Live Album
In 1973, Clive Davis decided to highlight the Murderer’s Row lineup of artists signed to Columbia Records with a week of concerts. “A Week To Remember” started on April 29 and included performances from Miles Davis, the Staple Singers, Bruce Springsteen, Earth, Wind and Fire, and Johnny Cash at the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles. Now, Cash’s legendary performance from that week will be released for the first time ever. A Night To Remember – a 2 LP set features a gold foil LP jacket, a “double vintage white LP,” a gold 7″ featuring two “unreleased Forever Words pieces by Ruston Kelly and a mystery artist,” and a DVD of the performance. The Stooges fans will be happy to hear that Third Man Records is releasing The Stooges’ Live At Goose Lake: August 8, 1970. It will showcase previously-unheard soundboard recording of the original Stooges’ final show together — honoring the performance’s 50th anniversary. The limited-edition colored vinyl will come in a variety of colors. The Rough Trade edition will be purple vinyl with a standard LP jacket while the indie exclusive version will be on cream-colored vinyl with a screen-printed LP jacket. CD and digital version of the album will also be available. The recording was found on a 1/4″ stereo two-track tape in the basement of a Michigan farmhouse. The ongoing video series has been providing intimate at-home performances, book readings, and other exclusive content for those still cooped up indoors. For the latest hour-long installment, Thurston Moore and Alison Mosshart perform new material from their own respective lockdown spaces.
