The Federal Government has dismissed the reported formation of a Biafra Customary Government by an ex-Niger Delta militant, Mujahid Asari-Dokubo, as a “theatre of the absurd by a joker seeking attention’’. Speaking with newsmen on the development in Lagos on Monday, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said President Muhammadu Buhari’s regime would allow itself to be distracted by the absurdity. Less than one month after his promotion to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG), former Benue State Commissioner of Police, who was later in charge of Armament, Omololu Bishi, has died. Bishi, a Lagos indigene, died yesterday after complaining of body ache. It was not clear if his death had anything to do with the ravaging coronavirus. Newsmen confirmed the death of Bishi through a police source, who said he was to be buried at the Ebony Vault in Lagos today. “Yes, he is dead. It’s unfortunate but true”, the source said. NSCIA: No moon sighted, fast continues
The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has directed Muslims to continue fasting through Saturday, as the moon has not been sighted in Nigeria by the National Moon sighting Committee. This development thus extends the fasting period beyond 30 days. “There was no positive sighting report of the Shawwal crescent in Nigeria, tomorrow is 30th Ramadan.
