The xx’s Romy Teams Up With Fred again.. for Sublime Single, “Strong”

If music is anything, it’s therapy. Just ask Romy of The xx, whose haunting new single, “Strong,” is a soul-stirring ode to resiliency. Produced in collaboration with Fred again.. and prolific record producer Stuart Price, the cathartic track is about learning how to process grief. The xx’s Romy Madley-Croft Releases Her First Solo Single

The xx’s Romy Madley-Croft has shared her first proper single. Released simply under the name Romy, the song, titled “Lifetime,” was written and recorded during quarantine with Fred again.. and Marta Salogni producing. It’s the second song she’s shared from her untitled solo album (Madley-Croft performed “Weightless” in an Instagram Live session in April). If there were a club season, this dance-y number would no doubt be played. Madley-Croft described the song as “being totally in the moment and celebrating it” in a statement. It’s about the quarantine dream of being reunited with friends, family and the ones we love, capturing the euphoria of being together again — which we can all relate to at this point. G-Eazy Covers Bob Dylan and the xx in Latest Quarantine Session

G-Eazy is continuing to show his inner rocker with a new batch of quarantine covers. This time, the rapper took on the xx’s 2009 single “VCR” and Bob Dylan’s classic 1963 track “Don’t Think Twice It’s Alright.” The first cover stays surprisingly true to the original, sans guitar. Producer Christoph Andersson reproduced the song’s electronic elements, with G-Eazy’s auto-tuned voice layered softly on top, mimicking Romy Madley Croft and Oliver Sim’s whisper-like vocals. The Dylan cover follows a similar format, with Andersson’s dreamy electronics and G-Eazy singing softly. Listen to both covers below. Last month, G-Eazy put his spin on Radiohead’s “Creep,” with help from actress Ashley Benson, and the Beatles’ deep cut “I’m So Tired.” The rapper and Pretty Little Liars star ha...
