Tales of the Walking Dead Somewhat Succeeds at Putting Fresh Paint on a Fading Franchise: Review

The Pitch: The Walking Dead, the flagship show of the long-running zombie apocalypse franchise, is finally coming to an end later this year after 11 seasons. But the Walking Dead universe is showing no signs of slowing down, with multiple spin-offs on the horizon, including ones for fan-favorite Daryl as well as Maggie and Negan, but the first to premiere is the anthology series Tales of the Walking Dead. The series, created by Walking Dead honcho Scott M. Gimple and franchise stalwart Channing Powell, gives a level of freedom never seen before in the Walking Dead universe, allowing new writers, directors, and stars to tell stand-alone tales of the zombie outbreak. As with any anthology, quality can vary wildly between entries, but the three episodes provided for review are more good than ...

The Walking Dead Anthology Series Adds Olivia Munn

AMC announced a number of cast members to its upcoming series Tales of The Walking Dead today, including Olivia Munn, Danny Ramirez, Jesse T. Usher, and more. The Walking Dead spinoff will be a six-episode anthology series featuring standalone stories from the original show’s zombie-infested universe. Additional cast members include Loan Chabanoal and Embeth Davidtz, though AMC promised in a release that some old and familiar faces are also bound to pop up on the AMC series. “Olivia, Danny, Loan, Embeth, and Jessie are the latest massive talents that will bring new worlds of TWD to life with big, daring, different, emotional, shocking, scary, and crazy stories.  We’re excited for them to come walk with us,” executive producer Scott M. 8 Actors Who Got Extremely Famous After Their Characters Exited The Walking Dead

The Walking Dead has been on the air so long, it’s hard to believe there was ever a time when it wasn’t. When it premiered in 2010, it singlehandedly revived the zombie genre (and AMC, finally giving them the ratings hit that critical darlings like Mad Men and Breaking Bad struggled to provide). The show, along with Game of Thrones, also ushered in a new era of prestige genre series, where the goofiest sci-fi, fantasy, and horror premises are elevated by feature-quality budgets and large ensembles of Hollywood’s hottest actors. Since its Frank Darabont-produced beginnings, in fact, The Walking Dead has practically acted as a clearinghouse for new, exciting talent. The show, at least in its prime years, delighted in building up a rotating roster of main characters it could kill off (or othe...

AMC FearFest Reveals Epic 2020 Lineup: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Stephen King, and More

One of the best parts of spooky season is leaving horror movies on in the background all day. Well, AMC Fear Fest is keeping that tradition alive and well in 2020 with a month-long celebration of horror’s greatest hits. From Michael Myers to Chucky, Freddy Krueger to Jason Voorhees, the gang is all back to keep you company. Perhaps gang is an understatement. After all, this year’s crop spans 91 titles and includes some major, heavy-hitting franchises: Halloween, Friday the 13th, Tremors, and a smorgasbord of Stephen King adaptations. There are also a number of essential classics like The Exorcist, The Amityville Horror, and From Dusk til Dawn. Even beyond the classics and rentals, AMC has a few other tricks and treats up its sleeve. The Walking Dead returns with more ghouls, the show’s spi...

The clip depicts a heist gone violently wrong, along with scenes of Manson singing the song. Manson discussed “DON’T CHASE THE DEAD” in our recent interview with the singer. He told us that the track is “a very driving song, but whe...

The Walking Dead to End with Season 11

After more than a decade, The Walking Dead is finally ready to rest. As Deadline and EW note, the long-running horror series will come to an end in 2022 after an expanded 11th season. But just as one zombie falls only to be replaced by another, so does a new spinoff of The Walking Dead stumble on in its place. The new untitled series will star Norman Reedus‘ Daryl and Melissa McBride’s Carol, and is expected to debut in 2023. The coronavirus pandemic had already interrupted production on Season 10, pushing the season finale back to October 4th. But the wait will be worth it for devoted Deadheads, as Season 10 will be expanded with six additional bonus episodes. As if that weren’t enough, Season 11 comes packed with 24 undead entertainments. For those not counting along ...
