A contestant on a recent episode of France’s edition of The Voice performed an obnoxious rendition of the Nirvana classic “Come As You Are” for his blind audition, but somehow got two of the judges to turn their chairs around. First off, unless there’s something lost in translation, we’re pretty sure that Stephen Di Tordo starts the performance by saying “Let’s f**k” into the microphone — leaving a confused look on the judges’ faces. From there, the opening verse sounds a little rough as Di Tordo delivers Kurt Cobain’s lyrics in a low tone. However, when he kicks into his upper register around 45 seconds into the performance, it impresses two of the judges, who promptly hit their buttons to turn their chairs around. The Voice of Holland, the original version of the global hit singing competition format, has been pulled off the air amid allegations of “very serious and shocking” sexual misconduct by members of the show’s production staff, according to a statement from its Dutch broadcaster. Jeroen Rietbergen, the show’s bandleader, resigned Saturday (Jan. 15) in a statement released to Dutch news service ANP. He admitted to “relationships of a sexual nature” with women involved in The Voice of Holland and said he “exchanged sexually explicit messages” with the women. Rietbergen said he did not believe he was abusing his position of power on the production, and he included an apology “to the women involved for things I should never have done.” Reitbergen said in his statement that the incident...
Ariana Grande, wannabe country girl? That’s the premise behind the amusing skit posted by the superstar on Tuesday showing her “audition” for Blake Shelton‘s “Come Back as a Country Boy” music video. In the comical clip, the “Santa Tell Me” singer dons a cowboy hat, flannel shirt and high-heeled boots while talking to off-camera casting agents. “Blake doesn’t think I’m ‘country enough,’ but I told him he’s so wrong so hopefully this’ll really show him what he needs to see,” she deadpans with her fingers crossed. The pint-size superstar then proceeds to fail miserably at various country-fied activities like catching a beer can, starting up a chainsaw (“Are you sure it’s charged? I think this one is defective…”) and kicking over a tree. “Still waiting to hear but i feel like no news is good ...
NBC’s The Voice is wrapping up season 21 with part two of its finale on Tuesday (Dec. 14), and Billboard wants to know who you think should win the singing competition! Coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton are neck and neck with two contestants each on their respective teams in the running for first place: sibling trio Girl Named Tom and 14-year-old sensation Hailey Mia (who’s the youngest in the competition) on Team Kelly, and seasoned artist Wendy Moten and Navy veteran-turned-artist Paris Winningham on Team Blake. Gospel performer Jershika Maple is the only one repping Team John. Ariana Grande, who is in her first season as a coach, does not have any contestants in the finale. The drama is building on NBC’s The Voice, as the Top 10 get down to their live work, with the threat of the axe hanging. There’s no room for error at this point of the competition, and Wendy Moten knows it. On Monday (Nov. 29), the 56-year-old Tennessee native swung for the rafters with a cover of a stone-cold classic, Dolly Parton’s “Jolene”. Moten introduced her own vocal stylings to the number, accompanied by a real pro on the acoustic guitar. And she did her chances of progressing no harm.
