IDLES rang in the new year with a performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday night. As the evening’s musical guest, the English post-punks performed “The Wheel,” a highlight form their 2021 album Crawler. From their various other late-night performances to their documentary, we know very well by now that IDLES know how to work a stage, whether it be a sweaty, scrappy punk venue or high up in the glossy studios of 30 Rockefeller Plaza. Their earth-shattering riffs, combined with the flashing strobe lights behind them, matched their ferocious energy. As frontman Joe Talbot smashed a cymbal belted the song’s anthem — “can I get a hallelujah?” — even the comparatively tame audience couldn’t help but throw a few whoops in response. Watch IDLES perform “The...
Goose landed at The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Wednesday, December 7th with a performance of the title track from their latest album, Dripfield. The quintet appeared relaxed and loose making their Tonight Show debut. The 30 Rock stage was dressed for the holidays, and after Goose added some well-saturated purple and blue jam band lighting, the set was more than merry and bright. Check out “Dripfield” below. The performance coincided with multi-instrumentalist Peter Anspach’s birthday, which only added to the celebratory nature of their first Tonight Show appearance. It also capped a seismic year for the band, who released their third LP, Dripfield, as well as the 4-track Undecided EP, and also co-headlined a fall tour with Trey Anastasio Band. Holy fvck, Demi Lovato has taken over The Tonight Show. On Tuesday (Aug. 16), the U.S. pop star kicked-off a three-night stand on Jimmy Fallon’s late-night NBC show, where they’ll slot in as special guest, co-host, musical performer and all-round good sport. To get the party started early for Lovato’s 30th birthday (the big day arrives Saturday), the “Confident” singer sat with Fallon for a chat, took part in a round of “Quicktionary,” and performed a new number. Lovato has some experience leading a TV show. Cracking jokes for a live audience, not so much. “I hosted the Teen Choice Awards one time, years ago,” they recounted. “I feel at home when I’m singing on stage, not when I’m talking.” Has Lovato ever tried standup, Fallon asked? “Hell no!,” was the immediate response. “I don’t want p...
Natalia Dyer may be most famous these days for her role as Nancy Wheeler in Netflix’s Stranger Things, but on Thursday night, she looked back on her very first role alongside Miley Cyrus in Hannah Montana: The Movie. The opportunity came as the actress was growing up in Nashville, she explained on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news “It wasn’t a huge film town at the time and then, this sort of major production was rolling through,” she told Jimmy Fallon and guest host Megan Thee Stallion of the 2009 movie based on Cyrus’ Disney Channel series. “It was a big deal. Everyone was very excited. “They had these two British, like, twin roles that they decided to cast locally and somehow I, yeah,” she added ...
When the dust — and bodies — settle on season four of Stranger Things, fans can argue about the killer moments. There’s the evil Vecna and his bone-snapping ways. Kate Bush coming to the rescue. And, of course, Eddie Munson wielding the axe for an end-of the-world Metallica shred. Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news That moment has powered Metallica’s ‘80s song into charts around the globe, and turned actor Joseph Quinn in the next hot thing. On Monday night (July 25), the British actor stopped by The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon for what was his talk-show debut. He played it like a pro, just like he did in his special “metal” moment on Stranger Things, though as he tells Fallon, the scene everyone’s talking about was mildly terrifying to sho...
Denzel Curry’s rendition of “Walkin” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon was so energetic he had the host dancing in his seat and the audience cheering long before he’d finished, leaving Fallon to join him at the end and confirm: You won’t see a performance like this every day. Curry began by introducing the Cold Blooded Soul band, which had also accompanied him during his recent captivating appearance on the NPR Tiny Desk. That prelude was the last time the 27-year-old MC stood still. With every word his hands punctuated the air, even as he danced and charged back and forth across the stage. At one point he brought the performance over to Fallon’s desk, where the enraptured host was smiling and bopping in his seat like a kid who’d snuck into the front row after the op...
During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Tuesday night (June 28th), actor Steve Carell recalled the time he waited on his look-alike, rocker Alice Cooper. In the same conversation, Carell also offered up a hilarious impression of Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler. While Carell was on the Tonight Show to promote his new movie Minions: The Rise of Gru, Fallon busted out side-by-side images of The Office star and the veteran shock rocker, clearly displaying the uncanny resemblance. The late-night host wondered if Carell ever met the rock legend, and it turns out he did. “I met Alice Cooper,” responded Carell. “I waited on him when I was working in Chicago, when I was waiting tables. I was working at a restaurant, and he came in. And he was Alice Cooper. And he could...
