Philip Margo, Singer on The Tokens’ Hit ‘The Lion Sleeps Tonight,’ Dies at 79

Philip Margo, a founding member of The Tokens, the doo-wop foursome behind the ‘60s hit “The Lion Sleeps Tonight,” died Saturday (Nov. 13) at the age of 79. The music man passed at a hospital in Los Angeles, after suffering a stroke, his family told The New York Times.
