Don Diablo Explains How His Official Rework of The Killers’ “Mr. Brightside” Came About

When Don Diablo took on the daunting task of remixing one of the most inescapable rock songs of the 21st century, the thought of an official release didn’t even cross his mind. There are a litany of hoops to jump through when working with a song as iconic as The Killers‘ “Mr. Brightside.” Licensing issues, band approvals, and convoluted clearance obstacles are just three of the headaches associated with the initiative. When he first produced his dazzling version of the generational anthem, which officially hit streaming platforms on August 20th, Diablo clearly had those hurdles in mind, saying that it was exclusively for his DJ sets. After teasing it in many of his live shows, the future house kingpin ended up receiving an overwhelming amount of ...

The Killers Plan to Drop Second New Album Within a Year

The Killers frontman Brandon Flowers said that his band plans to release another new album in 2021, telling NME: “It might be better than this one. … We’re going to release another one in about 10 months. We’ve already gone back into the studio. “Every time someone makes a record they say that they have 50 songs and they’re going to release another record. We really are,” Flowers said.  The band, whose sixth album, Imploding the Mirage, landed Aug. 21., has already tracked new songs with producers Jonathon Rado and Shawn Everett, Flowers saying, “We did a week in Northern California.“I had a lot of time on my hands. Before I’d normally be gearing up to tour, all of that time has gone back into writing more songs. It’s been pretty fruitful.” The singer, who recently relo...

The Killers Bring ‘Blowback’ to The Late Show

The Killers’ new album, Imploding the Mirage is finally out today (Aug. 21). And the band celebrated the release by debuting their new single, “Blowback” on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert last night (Aug. 20). Unlike their previous quarantine performances, this one shows the full band, while still socially distanced, back together onstage. As Bobby Olivier pointed out in his SPIN review on the album, this song, along with the rest of the LP, is “an easy bridge to the next arena tour.” Even though it may take a while until we get back to that kind of live event, it was nice to see what the Killers are bringing to the table with “Blowback,” which Brandon Flowers and Ronnie Vannucci, Jr., initially shared on the CBS This Morning in April. But now, we get to see the whole group play it, an...

The Killers’ Sexual Misconduct Investigation of Touring Crew Finds Claims ‘Entirely Unfounded’

After sexual misconduct allegations were revealed on July 28 involving The Killers’ 2009 touring crew, the Las Vegas band launched an internal investigation the following day (July 29). And today (Aug. 4), The Killers’ legal team, Reynolds & Associates, released the results of their investigation. Following testimonies from crew members from that tour as well as Chez Cherrie, a sound engineer and the individual who came forward with the claim, it was “discovered to be entirely unfounded.” “The Legal Team were unable to find any corroboration whatsoever of a sexual assault at the Milwaukee venue,” the statement said. “They request that if there is anyone with corroborating information of an event as described in the allegation to please contact ...

The Killers Return to Ellen DeGeneres Show With ‘Caution’

Since announcing their upcoming album, Imploding the Mirage, The Killers are giving fans some unconventional and stripped-down performances of “Caution,” the first single from it. However, as things are moving towards some sense of normalcy, Brandon Flowers and the rest of the band got together in the studio to do a full band performance of the song for Ellen DeGeneres Show, where they made their daytime television debut almost eight years ago. Flowers and drummer Ronnie Vanucci have previously played the track on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and from the lead singer’s bathroom for Jimmy Kimmel Live. They have also released “Fire in the Bone” and “Blowback.” Last week, the band shared a new version of “Land of the Free” with lyrics to reflect the murder of George Floyd. Watc...

This unparalleled, stark, beautiful, primitive, soulful music: it had a profound impact on me, just like it did many others.” While some may have hoped that The Killers’ frontman wo...

So thank you very much, and this song is for them.” With the help of a drum machine, the performance of the song off their new album, Imploding The Mirage, was as both inspiring, and Flowers’ vocals were pretty flawless — making us yearn for the day we get to see The Killers play th...
