While previous live-action Batman villains such as The Joker, Penguin and Bane have been more of the grounded variety, Clayface is a bit more sci-fi as the villain is able to literally change his facial and bodily features at a moments notice.
Whether or not we'll be introduced to Clayface (the big baddie said to be inked in for 'The Batman 2') remains to be seen, but we'll definitely keep an eye out for the name Basil Karlo (Clayface) when this series hits MAX. A sequel to The Batman is in the works, with Robert Pattinson and director Matt Reeves both returning. Warner Bros. confirmed the sequel during its presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday. As he did the first time around, Reeves will write and direct the film. Released in March 2022, The Batman rebooted the franchise with a dark, gritty adaptation that drew inspiration from comics such as Year One and The Long Halloween — as well as Nirvana. Though clocking in at nearly three hours, the film was a critical and commercial success. Consequence’s Sr. Entertainment Editor, Liz Shannon Miller, declared it “one of the better Batman movies ever made.” At the global box office, the film has grossed more than $750 million to date. Jim Carrey may be mulling retirement, but he seems to be considering a new career as a cultural critic. Case in point: Matt Reeves’ The Batman has widely been praised for its grounded portrayal of Gotham City, but Carrey isn’t too thrilled about the film’s darkness. The actor — who’s had his own turn as Caped Crusader foe The Riddler — said he had mixed emotions about the movie, and especially about Paul Dano’s interpretation of the character. “I’ve not seen it. It’s a very dark version. I have mixed emotions about it,” Carrey told Unilad. “To each his own and all that. I love [Dano] as an actor, he’s a tremendous actor.” Carrey played The Riddler in Joel Schumacher’s 1995 film Batman Forever, which starred Val Kilmer as the superhero. But where Dano’s villain...
HipHopWired Featured Video Source: Jonathan Olley™ & © DC Comics / The Batman Much to the surprise of many, Matt Reeves reboot of The Batman starring Robert Pattinson as the caped crusader was a hit amongst Dark Knight enthusiasts. As a treat to fans of his film, Reeves released a deleted scene featuring Batman talking one-on-one with the Clown Prince of Crime, The Joker. Originally, The Joker (played by Barry Keoghan) was relegated to a small cameo at the end of the film, but in this deleted scene it seems like he and Batman already share some kind of history as the Bat goes to him for information on The Riddler. Coming off as a Silence of The Lambs moment between Jodi Foster and Anthony Hopkins, The Batman travels down to Arkham Asylum to get some insight on The Riddler’s mind...
Paul Dano didn’t just play The Riddler in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, he got inside the villain’s head. Now he’s ready to put that knowledge to good use with Riddler: Year One, a new DC comic book due out in October. DC Comics unveiled their newest property in a social media post. “A new Riddler comic book hits stores this October with RIDDLER: YEAR ONE,” the announcement read. It also included a first look at the artwork, which shows a very suggestive pair of glasses framing the title. What they did not share was the artist responsible for that first look, thereby continuing a long tradition of comic book companies screwing over the less-well-known people who make their comics. There are other mysteries at this time, too, including the plot of Riddler: Yea...
When the musical Bat-Signal appears, the eyes of Gotham turn to electronic music: Alesso, Peggy Gou, Baauer and more are all featured on the soundtrack for The Batman, now in theaters. In fact, even the film’s lead, Robert Pattinson, tried his hand at crafting ambient tracks during downtime on set—while wearing his Batsuit, no less. The music of Kevin Saunderson, Patrick Topping and Corvad, as well as of icons like Nirvana, Dean Martin and Al Martino, fills in the gaps where Pattinson’s music quite didn’t make the cut. “As a die hard [sic] Batman fan I can’t believe I have a song in the new movie,” added Alesso, who contributed “DARK” to the film.
