Tenacious D Release Who Medley in Support of Gun Control

Tenacious D are hitting the road next week. They haven’t released a proper full-length since 2018’s Post-Apocalypto. The last song they put out was in 2020 when they covered “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show as part of Rock the Vote. This evening, they unveiled a new single where they’re covering The Who’s “Pinball Wizard,” “There’s A Doctor,” and “Go To The Mirror!” The medley will be released as a seven-inch single with all of the proceeds going to Everytown For Gun Safety. “Who better to deliver a tribute to the greatest rock opera of all times? Who? The D! That’s Who!! We’ve been working on this medley for 20 years. It’s finally ready to be unleashed. Crank it. It’s a humdinger. Enjoy,” the duo said in a statement. Tenacious D Drop Beatles Medley Single to Benefit Doctors Without Borders

Tenacious D, the rock comedy duo manned by Jack Black and Kyle Gass, started July with a rambunctious tribute, a medley of two classics by The Beatles, “You Never Give Me Your Money” and “The End.” “Tenacious D are paying tribute to the greatest band in the world…not themselves…The Beatles!!! In the spirit of healing the world….please enjoy tenacious d’s mashup of two classics from Abbey Road,” the band says of the release. It arrived on Thursday with a music video where Black and Gass travel to London, sing atop mountains, and dance on the beach. Tenacious D’s Jack Black and Kyle Gass Rock Out on Jimmy Kimmel Live!

Tenacious D hit Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night (Sept. 22) for a socially-distanced performance. Before performing a quick combo platter of the songs “Save The World” and “Post-Apocalypto Theme (Reprise)” off 2018’s Post-Apocalypto album, actor/singer Jack Black, sporting a shorn head, looked into the camera and said “Save the world, Jimmy. It’s up to you.” The duo did the appropriately titled tunes, which clocked in at less than two minutes, joined by a socially distant band. Watch the Tenacious D performance below.
