Bella Thorne Blasts Public Scrutiny Britney Spears Faced: ‘No One Gives Disney Kids Enough F***ing Credit’

When Bella Thorne first watched Hulu’s Framing Britney Spears in early February, she was irate — and has yet to shake the feeling. “It made me so sad, just all the wrongs that society did to her,” she says. “It’s disgusting what she went through, what she is still going through, the whole nine yards, it is literally terrible. And thank goodness they made the documentary so that people can change their fucking perception on situations.” The actress, 23, shares some similarities with the pop star, after all. They both were groomed for stardom as children and came up through the Disney ranks, Thorne via “Shake It Up” (opposite Zendaya) and Spears as a Mouseketeer, and both suffered the predations of paparazzi and negative scrutiny. She vividly r...

Watch Rick Astley React to ‘The Voice’ Judges Covering ‘Together Forever’: Exclusive

You’ve got to wake up pretty early in the morning to Rick Roll the Rick Roller. That’s what happened when British singer Rick Astley was told that the coaches from The Voice had filmed a remake of his iconic 1988 video for “Together Forever.” In the clip, which opens with some crackly, vintage 1980s VHS vibes, Astley lights up when he sees Blake Shelton doing an awkward, hunched-shoulder dance as he’s joined by an acid wash-drenched Nick Jonas and a shoulder-pad rocking Kelly Clarkson. John Legend, decked out in a fringed leather jacket, pulls off his own Breakfast Club-worthy steps, which clearly delights Astley, who is checking it all out on his phone. “That is priceless,” Astley chuckles as Clarkson shakes her gold necklaces and matching chunky ...

Sheikh Gumi: Fulani herdsmen were pushed into criminality

Islamic Cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, has maintained his position that some Fulani herdsmen were forced into criminality because they were victims of cattle rustling. Sheikh Gumi restated his position during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Monday. Sheikh Gumi said: “When I listened to them, I found out that it is a simple case of criminality which turned into banditry, which turned into ethnic war, and some genocide too behind the scene; people don’t know.” The cleric said that while “there is no excuse for any crime; nothing can justify crime, and they are committing crime,” the bandits were forced into criminality. “I think it is a population that is pushed by circumstances into criminality,” he said. “And this is what we should look, let’s remove the pressure, let’s...

Timberlake’s apology also received support from fellow singer Brandi Carlile. “Really beautiful to read this,” she commented on the post. “I think it’s going to speak to a lot of people’s pain. I can’t wait to see how you get involved with elevating women and marginalized people. you’re an inspiring dude to me.” Timberlake issued the apology in response to criticism he received online following the early February premiere of the The New York Times Presents: Framing Britney Spears on FX and Hulu. Myanmar police fire rubber bullets, wounding three, as hundreds of thousands protest

Supporters of ousted Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi clashed with police on Friday as hundreds of thousands joined nationwide pro-democracy demonstrations in defiance of the military junta’s call to halt mass gatherings. The United Nations human rights office said more than 350 people, including officials, activists and monks, have been arrested in Myanmar since the Feb. 1 coup, including some who face criminal charges on “dubious grounds”. The U.N. rights investigator for Myanmar told a special session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva that there were “growing reports, photographic evidence” that security forces have used live ammunition against protesters, in violation of international law. Special Rapporteur Thomas Andrews urged the U.N. Security Council to consider imposing sanctio...

‘American Idol’ Was the First Show to React to COVID. Can They Be the First to ‘Pivot Back’ to Normal?

Instead, Kinane says they came up with “Idol Across America,” teaming with Zoom to create a custom audition process that tried to mirror the old way of auditioning as closely as possible. The new style included creating a huge Zoom room contestants signed in to from home, where they might find ex-Idol cast members sharing stories of their auditions as well as advice. The singers were then filtered through to producers in breakout rooms, which Kinane says actually ended up working to the show’s advantage and allowed Idol to virtually visit all 50 states for the first time in its 19-year history. “Everybody got seen by an Idol producer,” according to Kinane, who says she then sorted through the cream of the crop with Idol executive producer Megan Michaels W...

Tokyo 2021: Japan, medical experts disagree over safe Olympics

Japanese infectious disease specialist Atsuo Hamada wants to see the Olympics happen in Tokyo this summer, but admits if they were being held anywhere else, he’d probably support a cancellation. “Even without the coronavirus pandemic, the Olympics as a mass gathering fosters all sorts of infectious diseases,” Hamada, a professor at Tokyo Medical University, told AFP. With less than six months until the pandemic-postponed Games, organisers say they’re confident the event will be safe. But some medical experts aren’t so sure, and think cancellation is safer. “I do understand the athletes’ sentiments,” said Michael Head, a senior research fellow in global health at Britain’s University of Southampton. “But I think from… the global public health point of view, there’s nothing about the Olympic...

Drake Stars in New State Farm Super Bowl Commercial With Paul Rudd & Patrick Mahomes: Watch

When you thought Jake from State Farm was a one-person show, he has a starry stand-in: Drake.  In a new Super Bowl commercial, NFL superstars Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes and actors Paul Rudd and Adrian Martinez trade jabs about being each other’s on-air replacements. After Mahomes and Rodgers scoff at their lousy fill-ins — Rudd and Martinez, respectively — Jake quips about Drizzy serving as his second-stringer. Decked out in a red State Farm polo, Drake comically tries to mimic Jake’s famous jingle while at the snack table. Unfortunately for him, he struggles mightily and then allows the State Farm honcho to takeover.  You Deserve to Make Money Even When you are looking for Dates Online.
