Ed Sheeran Arrives For ‘Late Late Show’ Residency Too Early, Drives James Corden Crazy

“What are you doing?” a frustrated Corden asked. “Sorry, I’m just going over some lighting options, carry on without me. Pretend I’m not here,” the painfully polite plucker urged the agitated host, who pleaded with Sheeran to maybe wait until the upcoming commercial break to do his prep work. You know where this is going. Ed plugged his trusty acoustic in and started jamming with the band as Corden flat-out lost it. “Ed!” he shouted as Sheeran explained that he was just rehearsing one of the four songs — including the TV debut of “Bad Habits” — that he plans to play next week. “But please, just carry on, pretend I’m not here,” Ed said. “Stop. How… stop saying… Stop! Stop! Stop! Stop!...

Jimmie Herrod Earns Golden Buzzer With Glorious ‘Tomorrow’ Performance on ‘AGT’: Watch

“I thought this would be the perfect time,” Herrod said of his decision to compete. “When opportunity presents itself you run towards it. I’m just excited to share what I have to offer.” When Cowell heard that Herrod was planning to sing “Tomorrow” from Annie, the Brit sucked the energy out of the room. “That is my worst song in the world,” he explained. “You should do another song.” Ouch. Herrod didn’t have another. He stuck to his guns and blew the judges away with his big-throated interpretation. He didn’t need another song. With several theatrical peaks, Herrod’s “Tomorrow” was a huge hit with everyone in the room, including three of the four judges who stood to applaud. “Wow wow wow. This isn’t my worst song anymore,” Cowell admitted, giving off the appearance of a man who’d bee...

Lorde Talks ‘Solar Power’ and the Origins of its ‘Joyful,’ Slightly ‘Feral’ Artwork

The Kiwi artist is something of a rare bird, keeping a low profile since the 2018 tour in support of her 2017 sophomore album Melodrama. On Tuesday (June 21), Lorde stopped by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert to break the drought with a rare live interview. At the top, Colbert reminded his guest of their previous meeting in 2019, in the backyard of NZ prime minister Jacinda Ardern. He pranked her with bogus peanut brittle, and she hasn’t forgotten. To his question on whether all New Zealander’s know each other — a country with a population of about 5 million — Lorde was diplomatic in her response. “I think most of them do. I am kinda shy so I only know a handful, but I know the really good ones.” The album Solar Power is slated to drop Aug. 20, and is the followup to 2017’s M...

On Sunday, a video from online magazine The Root went viral in which host and producer Felice León confronted In the Heights director Jon M. Chu and actors including Leslie Grace, Melissa Barrera and Gregory Diaz IV over colorism in the film’s casting choices. Chu acknowledged that the conversation was a “fair” one to have, adding that he hopes more people will be encouraged to “tell more stories and get out there and do it right.” On Monday, Miranda addressed the criticisms himself in a message on Twitter. “I can hear the hurt and frustration over colorism, of feeling still unseen in the feedback. I hear that without sufficient dark-skinned Afro-Latino representation, the work feels extractive of the community we wanted so much to represent with pride and joy...
