Kacey Musgraves Channels Her Inner Jenny Gump During SNL Season Premiere: Watch
Kacey Musgraves helped kick off Saturday Night Live’s 47th season with a performance referencing the infamous Forest Gump scene in which Jenny takes the stage in the nude. The Nashville singer-songwriter performed “justified” with only a large acoustic guitar and boots visible to the camera. Many fans were quick to point out the similarities to Robin Wright’s portrayal of Jenny Gump in Robert Zemeckis’ 1994 blockbuster. Musgraves seemingly confirmed the inspiration in a tweet posted following the performance. Lorde Performs “Stoned at the Nail Salon” Live for First Time on Seth Meyers: Watch
After sobering up from an afternoon of day drinking, Lorde returned to Rockefeller Center on Wednesday night to film the rest of her appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers. Most notably, the New Zealand singer performed her new single, “Stoned at the Nail Salon,” live for the first time. Whereas her previous television performance of “Solar Power” came live from the roof of the Ed Sullivan Theater, Lorde opted for a much more low-key affair for the debut of “Stoned at the Nail Salon.” She sang the tender rumination about aging and domestication while sitting in a garden of shrubbery, accompanied by a stripped-down acoustic ensemble led by producer Jack Antonoff. Ghost frontman Tobias Forge joined The Hellacopters for a cover of The Rolling Stones classic “Sympathy for the Devil” Friday evening (January 22nd) on Swedish television. The performance aired as a segment on the På Spåret quiz show on Sweden’s national TV network SVT.
