Chris Liebing, Boston 168, More Contribute to Anfisa Letyago’s First-Ever Remix Pack: Listen
The latest project by Anfisa Letyago is here—and it’s a three-parter. First up is Listen & Nisida (Remixed) Vol 1, a four-track remix pack of tracks off the techno producer’s 2021 EPs, Listen and Nisida. Featuring reworks by DJ Rush, Adiel, Boston 168 and Chris Liebing, the EP’s 25 minutes are a techno pièce de résistance, acting as a showcase of the styles that are currently taking over the genre. Under Boston 168’s care, for example, “Gravity” becomes eerily otherworldly, as a mischievous new synth line flows tauntingly alongside Letyago’s echoing vocals. Skyline Festival to Bring Carl Cox, Green Velvet, Maya Jane Coles, More to Los Angeles
“The LA skyline is changing in 2022,” according to Insomniac‘s West Coast event banners, Factory 93 and Day Trip. And we owe it all to the rejuvenated Skyline Festival, which was announced today. The 21+ event is set to take over downtown L.A. next month on February 26th and 27th, with two outdoor stages. Featuring a star-studded lineup of house and techno music, scheduled performers include Anfisa Letyago, Chris Lake, Green Velvet, Maya Jane Coles, Noizu and Sonny Fodera. Marcel Dettmann Drops Mesmerizing Techno Remix for “The Matrix Resurrections” Soundtrack: Listen
Keen viewers of The Matrix Resurrections may be able to identify Marcel Dettmann‘s influence in the upcoming film due out on December 22nd. A stalwart of the Berlin techno scene, Dettmann recently found himself in a film scoring role as the movie’s lead composers, Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer, consulted him for expertise. The iconic techno producer led the scoring effort on at least one particular scene and additionally contributed a remix of “My Dream Ended Here” to the forthcoming soundtrack. In less than a week, fans will be revisiting the dystopian world of The Matrix series for the first time in 18 years. Anticipated to be one of the most successful films of the year, the tentpole is also shelling out a top-notch soundtrack composed by tenured composers Johnny Klimek and Tom Tykwer. After succumbing to the wrath of the global pandemic and missing out on two years of revelry, the organizers of Desert Hearts have announced the festival’s return in 2022 with a new location. Celebrating a decade of house, techno, and love, the eclectic techno and house music fest will take place April 28th to May 2nd, calling Lake Perris its new home. Situated approximately two hours outside of Los Angeles and San Diego, Lake Perris State Recreation Area is a serene lakeside oasis surrounded by the suburban landscape that is the Inland Empire. The Story of Rinzen, Electronic Music Journalist Turned Cinematic Techno World-Builder
The story of Rinzen begins with a peculiar art installation. Rinzen, whose real name is Michael Sundius, was visiting Barcelona’s Modern Art Museum when he stumbled upon Antoni Tàpies’ Rinzen, a striking piece that combines humble objects with pictorial and sculptural elements. “Rinzen means ‘a moment of sudden awakening’ in Japanese,” Sundius tells EDM.com. “I’m half Japanese so the name and meaning really spoke to me.” Manifesting the artwork’s intention to spark meditation and inner vision, Sundius adopted Rinzen as the moniker for his musical alias, aiming to create “cinematic, cerebral, melodic house and techno.” Rinzen’s prologue Music production wasn’t Sundius’ first foray into the world of electronic music though.
