“Petra” – Bedouin After a jaw-dropping hybrid set at Al Khazneh (The Great Treasury) in Petra, Jordan—one of the seven wonders of the modern world—melodic house duo Bedouin cemented the momentous performance with a track in the city’s namesake. Evoking mystery and awe, Bedouin’s “Petra” offers a striking parallel to the historic tomb it pays testament to. “Balsame” – Xinobi Turkish baglama plucks, an infectious bassline, and Arâm’s fierce vocals bring “Balsame” to life. The titular track off Xinobi’s latest album is “about healing using the metaphor of the wine as a healer,” Xinobi explains. “Although here the wine represents a quick fix for the erratic person [or] creature Arâm is giving voice to, it should represent a bigger objective: healing permanently or at...

Coachella annually touts one of the most diverse lineups of any major music festival, but this year they’ve gone all out by booking a techno marching band by the name of MEUTE. Off of concept alone, MEUTE might be the most interesting act to perform at Coachella this year. “When you tell people that we are a techno marching band, people already get some pictures in their head,” Meute’s founder and trumpet player Thomas Burhorn told Variety. “And then when they see what we do and hear what we do, they can realize… that it is even deeper than what they might have imagined.” The 11-man unit hails from Germany, where techno has long been a staple of the country’s fabled nightlife sector. They’ve taken what has long been solely considered electron...

Dennis Rodman never let a playoff game get in the way of partying. In fact, the NBA Hall of Fame forward frequently relieved the pressure of major games with nights out on the town. In his new book, Walk On The Wild Side, Rodman details one such outing ahead of a critical NBA Finals Game 6 against the Seattle Supersonics. The night began straightforward enough, with sushi and some Sake bombs, but with a crazy crew by his side, things rapidly went off the rails. Rodman found himself filling his head with “ear-splitting” techno music all night long at Chicago’s legendary Crobar nightclub. “We ended up at Crobar, where they have a bondage rack and men will stand there writhing in pain while voluptuous women pour burning wax onto their ni...
