Thieves Steal Over $15,000 Worth of Studio Gear From Techno Artist

After over $15,000 worth of music production equipment was stolen from his studio, Argentinian-born techno producer Pfirter has launched a campaign to replace the gear. The DJ, whose real name is Juan Pablo Pfirter, took to social media to announce the “particularly devastating” theft. He says he returned from a weekend on tour to find out his home and studio had been robbed. “I can’t explain how it feels to come back to your place and see that all the essential material things are gone,” said Pfirter, who also runs his own record label, MindTrip. “This is particularly devastating for me as I’m still recovering from the difficulties of being a DJ/producer during the 2 years of the pandemic, which also led to not having my studio or home insured....

The event starred Drumcode boss Adam Beyer, Afterlife’s Mind Against, “Queen of Techno” Nicole Moudaber, melodic Ukrainian supe...

Detroit Techno Icon Jeff Mills Soundtracks Dior’s Fall 2023 Runway Show at Pyramids of Giza

Detroit techno legend Jeff Mills was the artist behind the sound of Dior’s Fall 2023 runway show soundtrack. Affectionately known as “The Wizard,” Mills partnered with fashion designer Kim Jones for the science fiction-influenced collection. The Dior show, which went down Sunday, December 4th, was aptly titled “Celestial.” Flaunting bright, futuristic and otherworldly fashion in front of the Pyramids of Giza, the runway could’ve easily been a Cercle show. Throughout the show, Mills’ tracks “Step To Enchantment,” “Gamma Player,” “Microbe” and “Daphnis (Keeler’s Gap)” accompanied the flashy walks. Jones mentioned that techno is a perfect complementary genre for the elements of the 75-piece as...

Seismic Dance Event Quakes the Status Quo—By Prioritizing the Ultimate Techno and House Music Experience

After concluding it’s milestone fifth year of action in the “live music capital of the world,” it’s clear Seismic Dance Event has not only found its flow, but is also actively reaching higher for the next rung on the ladder to festival greatness. There’s frequently a misplaced notion when it comes to the live events space that bigger is always better. To an extent, it’s easy to see the underlying logic—a festival which sells a larger volume of tickets generally is likely to have more resources available at their disposal. More monetary resources generally affords higher profile talent bookings, more jaw-dropping production and effects, increasingly extravagant amenities and more. Seismic Dance Event is among the few notable event brands where the best of...
