Kwara records 107 new coronavirus cases – official

Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, the Chief Press Secretary to Kwara State Governor, on Thursday said that the state had recorded 107 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of infected persons to 2,469. Ajakaye, who is also the Spokesman for the state Technical Committee on COVID-19, said this in a statement in Ilorin on Thursday. He said the with this development, the state now had 2,469 confirmed cases of which 542 were active, 1,877 recovered and discharged, while 50 died. Kwara records three new virus cases

Three new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19) were recorded in the last 24 hours in Kwara, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye, the Spokesman of the state’s Technical Committee on COVID-19, made this known in a statement on Monday in Ilorin. Ajakaye, also the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, said that this was the situation as at 9.30 p.m. on Sunday. Newsmen report that the state now has a total of 954 confirmed cases of the virus. According to Ajakaye, out of the 954 confirmed cases, 778 patients have been discharged, leaving 151 active cases in the state. He stated that 5,087 tests were conducted, while 5,103 tested negative with 25 deaths recorded so far in the state, and 30 tests were pending. NCDC lauds Kwara over testing centre

The National Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has commended efforts of the Kwara State Government in the fight against Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in the state. The NCDC Team Leader, Dr Okoli Innocent, made the commendation when he led other members of the agency to inspect laboratories in preparation for establishing of Molecular Testing Centre in the state to test for the virus. Okoli explained that the Director-General of NCDC, Dr Chikwe Ihekweazu, was appreciative of the present administration’s strides in the health sector. The team leader pledged NCDC’s support to the state in the fight against COVID-19.
