West Bromwich Albion and Fulham are reportedly keen to sign Liverpool striker Taiwo Awoniyi in the summer transfer window. According to Goal.com, seven clubs have approached the Reds over the Nigerian striker’s availability. Awoniyi joined Liverpool in 2015, but he has spent the past six years on loan at a host of clubs in Europe. This season, he has played in the Bundesliga with Union Berlin. Fulham and West Brom are interested in signing Taiwo Awoniyi after he was granted a UK work permit for the 2021/22 campaign. Awoniyi linked up with Liverpool in 2015 but is yet to feature in an official game for the Reds. The Nigeria international has spent the past six years on loan at different clubs across in Europe and is currently with Bundesliga club Union Berlin. Super Eagles boss speaks on new players for AFCON qualifiers
Gernot Rohr has made his reservations known about calling up new players for next month’s AFCON qualifiers against Benin and Lesotho. The Eagles will make the short trip to Benin on March 22 and then welcome Lesotho to Lagos on March 30 to conclude the qualifying campaign for the 2021 AFCON. They need at least a point from the two matches to advance to the final tournament in Cameroon next year. Taiwo Awoniyi has thanked Mainz 05 medical team for helping to save his life after a close shave with death during Sunday’s German Bundesliga matchday 31 tie between Mainz and Augsburg at Opel Arena. Awoniyi was concussed after a clash of head with Augsburg defender Felix Uduokhai and was immediately rushed to the hospital where he completed his recovery.
