Musicians Express Outrage As Roe v. Wade Is Overturned

The music community is expressing outrage this morning (June 24) after the U.S. Supreme Court overturned the nearly 50-year-old federal law guaranteeing the right to abortion established in the Roe v. Wade case. “No one, not the government, not politicians, not the Supreme Court should prevent access to abortion, birth control and contraceptives. People should have the FREEDOM to choose,” longtime abortion rights advocates Pearl Jam wrote on Twitter. “Today’s decision impacts everyone and it will particularly affect poor women who can’t afford to travel to access health care. We will stay active, we will not back down and we will never give up.” “I don’t even know what to say other than absolutely fuck this,” Finneas wrote on Twitter. Added Bon Iver’s Justin Vernon, “Voting fucking matters...

ODESZA Announce 2022 Amphitheater Tour

When rumors begin to swirl around a band’s album or touring plans, oftentimes the reality can be disappointing. Luckily for fans of ODESZA, the frenzy of speculation turned out to be better than they could have ever imagined. Coming to 25 cities across the United States and Canada this summer is ODESZA’s 2022 amphitheater tour, “The Last Goodbye,” which takes its name from the duo’s upcoming album. ODESZA will be taking the stage on a scale grander than any of their previous tours. In an effort to reduce the environmental impact of large-scale events, they have announced a partnership with the nonprofit REVERB in an effort to make the tour carbon-neutral or—ideally—carbon-negative. There will be a “REVERB Eco Village” at the shows to encourage fans...

Sylvan Esso are back with new material. Not only have they announced their forthcoming studio album, Free Love, they’ve also shared the first single off it — “Ferris Wheel.” Directed by Supercollider, the video follows Amelia Meath and Nick Sanborn having a great time at a carnival, complete with all the lights, games, and of course, a ride on the Ferris wheel. “This first single, Ferris Wheel, is about discovering your power and awkwardly figuring out how to wield it,” Meath said in a statement. “It’s for the summer, it’s for you, we hope you like it.” Prior to “Ferris Wheel,” Sylvan Esso released a visual for “What If,” the LP opener, last week.
