Subtronics Launches New Record Label, Cyclops Recordings

When you’ve created a sound all your own and garnered a fanbase who counts down the seconds until you release new music, the next natural move is to start a record label. Such is the case with dubstep star Subtronics, who has announced his own Cyclops Recordings banner. Thanks to massive dubstep anthems such as “Scream Saver” and the GRiZ-assisted smash “Griztronics,” the Philly-born electronic music producer has emerged one of the most popular tastemakers in the bass music scene in little time. He will now flex his A&R skills as the proprietor of Cyclops, which he said in a video shared via Twitter is “the next logical step” in his blossoming career. Each Cyclops release is being dubbed a “mission,” the first of whic...

GRiZ and Subtronics’ “Griztronics” Added to Fortnite’s In-Game Radio

Players who enter vehicles inside the game will now have the ability to compete to the sounds of the duo’s collaborative hit. Back in August, one of the world’s biggest video games, Fortnite, released a new update that added cars to the game. While it offered a distinct change of pace to the traditional gameplay, it also opened the door to even more musical crossovers with the introduction of in-game radio stations.  Chances are if you attended a bass music show in 2019 or used TikTok at all, you’ve been exposed to GRiZ and Subtronics‘ infectious collaboration “Griztronics.” Back in the days of actually attending concerts in-person, the song was played in nearly every set that featured trap and dubstep music. Now, fans can get sucked deeper into its...

Listen to Subtronics’ Massive Dubstep Throwback DJ Set

“Holy shit you found it!” reads the description of dubstep star Subtronics‘ “Extras” SoundCloud page. The account only has around 1,500 followers, but Subtronics has launched it to post exclusive content that fans won’t find on his main page.  The first and only upload on the SoundCloud page thus far is the famed bass music producer’s dubstep throwback set recorded in Chicago on October 24th. Subtronics prefaced the DJ set by explaining that to newer fans, the music therein may seem “downtempo” or unfamiliar, but it’s the music that he grew up listening to and idolizing. Despite any concerns, old-school fans and new bass-heads alike were thrilled with the performance, and it’s now available for listening anytime. Dubste...

It is the fifth pod concert series being thrown by Relentless Beats, who have brought out fellow bass music heavyweights Kayzo, NGHTMRE, and more in recent months. The outdoor venue maintains CDC guidelines by dividing groups into distinct sections, each 8×10 and 6-feet apart. Face masks will additionally be required at the venue.  The timing couldn’t be more ideal for Subtronics to hit the road, given his recent mind-melting EP, String Theory. Subtronics and Wooli Team Up to “Melt Ur Brain” [Premiere]

Bass music all-star Subtronics has been blowing minds for nearly a decade with his cutting-edge, heavy style. Now, he has enlisted the help of fellow dubstep heavyweight Wooli for a mind-bending new collaborative effort. “Melt Ur Brain” seeks to do just what its name suggests, with a unique and trippy sound. A distorted lead synth functions like clockwork, tick-tocking over intense, grinding bass stabs. That synth opens up into a staggering arpeggiated melody, sending the listener even deeper down the rabbit hole as the entrancing vocal sample echoes all around. Previously an ID that was highly sought after by bass-heads and DJs, “Melt Ur Brain” is undoubtedly set to be a mainstay in playlists and DJ sets to come. It’s Subtronics’ first of...
