Ekiti governor’s aide slumps, dies in office

A former Provost of College of Education, Ikere Ekiti, now Bamidele Olumilua University of Education, Science and Technology, Professor Francisca Aladejana, is dead. Prof Aladejana, who until his death, was a Special Adviser to Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State on Basic, Secondary and Vocational/Technical Education, reportedly slumped in her office on Monday and thereafter died. She was said to have arrived her office as usual on Monday morning but later slumped while on phone call. Akwa Ibom NASU demands inclusion in federal government’s incentives for teachers

Court restrains Edo NUT from embarking on strike

Nigeria Union of Teachers The National Industrial Court in Benin, on Monday, restrained the Edo wing of Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT) from proceeding on any strike in primary schools across the state. Justice Abiola Adewemimo gave the order after listening to the arguments by the state Solicitor-General, Oluwole Iyamu (SAN). Newsmen report that the state government and the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) are the applicants in the case, with suit number: NICN/BEN/04/2021. ABU trains 500 head teachers of Kaduna public primary schools

The Institute of Education, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, on Monday began a five-day training to develop the managerial capacities of 500 head teachers and other officials on basic education in Kaduna State. Tijjani Abdullahi, the Executive Chairman of the Kaduna State Universal Basic Education Board, in his address, said that the training was funded by the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC). Mr. Abdullahi, represented by the Director of School Services, Aliyu Idris, said that the trainings were taking place simultaneously in Zaria, Kaduna and Kafanchan. Kano government distributes instructional materials to schools

The Kano State Government, says it has begun the distribution of instructional materials worth over N1.5 billion to primary and junior secondary schools in the 44 Local Government Areas of the state. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, disclosed this at the inauguration of the distribution exercise on Tuesday in Kano. Ganduje said the state government procured instructional materials in collaboration with the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) and development organisations. In what appeared like a way of appeasing the aggrieved members of the All Progressives Congress in Ekiti State, Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi on Tuesday sent a list of seven new commissioner-nominees to the State House of Assembly. The Speaker of the House of Assembly, Hon. Funminiyi Afuye read the names of the nominees on the floor of the House of this morning. Kwara college speaks on discovery of 2,000 fake certificates

The Kwara College of Education, Ilorin, says the college is yet to uncover how more than 2,000 fake certificates of the school were used to secure employment with various government agencies in the state. Prof. Abdulraheem Yusuf, the Provost of the college, said in a statement made available to newsmen on Thursday in Ilorin that recent reports had twisted his response in the interview he granted.
