Scott Weiland’s life is headed to the big screen. On Monday morning, Dark Pictures and Orian Williams announced they acquired the book rights to the Stone Temple Pilots/Velvet Revolver singer’s Not Dead & Not for Sale memoir and will turn it into a biopic. The film, titled Paper Heart, will be written by Jennifer Erwin. “It’s an honor to have the trust to tell Scott’s story and the ability to portray the lesser known sides of him – the loving and tender man he was, the high school athlete he was, the melancholy soul he was and the legendary frontman that he will always be,” Erwin said in a statement to The Hollywood Reporter. “Scott was glamorous, complicated and wounded. Stone Temple Pilots will play their debut LP, 1993’s Core, in full during a nugs.tv livestream set for Friday, July 31 at 5 p.m. PT / 8 p.m. ET. Tickets for the event are $9.99 and can be purchased via the Nugs site. The show will be available for replay “within 48 hours from pressing play,” according to a press release. The multi-platinum Core remains one of the definitive grunge albums, spawning three of Stone Temple Pilots’ most popular singles: “Sex Type Thing,” “Creep,” and “Plush,” the latter of which earned Best Hard Rock Performance at the 1994 Grammys.
